Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I'm going to wait till it warms up a little here before I blast anything. In the meantime I'll keep collecting parts. I still need to get the bed strips from the board member so I can work out the bed wood. I've never had one with the wood before, other than a stepside. I'll also look for a 68 GMC clip. I am not going to get in a hurry on this one. I'm going to enjoy the build. I like less metal work as i can get away with. I'm getting lazy in my old age.

So far Ive decided that my interior color is going to be bright blue. My door panels are that color and I just got some visors from southern c10 that I'll use. Does anyone make a standard seat pattern in bright blue?

I mean without the scrolls.

WOW ! I thought cabs like that only existed in fantasies. I know you might not want to disclose this, but what was the total cost to get that thing to your door ? sure it wasn't cheap ,but it sure will save a lot of work.

Im with you the better metal you start with the better off you are . It takes long enough to get one painted , metal work just adds to it .

Man that is one clean cab you got there. It would sure be nice to start a build off with something that nice. Good luck, I'll be watching this one also.

So for 3000 you basically got a rust free rolling chassis. I had 3300 into my longbed and have spent a ton to get it rust free so you're miles ahead. I plan on doing similar to you on my next build.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I got some GMC hubcaps off of ebay. I know that they aren't the correct ones for 68 but they'll do until I find the chrome 68 dogdishes I want.

sorry for the bad pic\/

I like the new caps! What size wheels and tires are you planning to run?

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thats still up in the air right now. Concentrating on finding front clip metal. Just ran across the caps and they looked good. I still have the wheel widening project on hold.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I just learned that my tailgate isn't as good as I thought it was. It has a bow to it. I posted a thread to trade it and thought i better mount it and double check its condition. Just goes to show your ''good and someone elses ''good'' isn't always the same.. I'm bummed but I'll most likely keep it and fix it when I need one for a chevy. The hunt continues for a 68 GMC gate thats good enough for this project. I'll keep you posted.

I found one of those late 80s seats for 45.00. I thought I would try it.
