That's a cool find. And unusual to not have a zillion miles on it. The ones that stand out in my memory are the green National or Nationwide rental trucks with the three elephants. I'd love to see pictures of your Ryder. Were they factory ordered in their color or painted over white?

yes them "nationwide"? trucks are neat ! i have had my eye on a 69-72 c-50 all nice and painted up ,sitting at a guys yard ,is a 366,w/a 5 spd {,no overdrive}steering, brakes and fact {rare}.air if i remember right ,black vinyl interior, the fact. floor mats look like new,the box looks like new inside, got his kids & grand kids old toys, bikes and junk stored inside ,maybe before long he can get all this stuff back to them or have a big yard sale and i can buy this truck? seems like them" this truck has probably a 16-20 box on it ? guess thats why it had a 366 motor . anybody know what happened to the company ?bankrupt?

Re: 1969 "ryder" c-30 truck

Thanks for posting a pic!

That would be about the least useful truck I could imagine BUT I wouldn't turn it down if the price was right! OMGosh you really could help your friends move....

In other words: that is one impressive truck. Do buy it if you can!

Now if you ever part it out, I have first dibs on the engine and offset air cleaner....

Re: 1969 "ryder" c-30 truck

Ryder should pay you to restore that...then let you keep it! That's about time capsule. Al these fleet trucks come with those two hole Budds. I always wondered about that. You figure it's economics, but is a wheel that much cheaper because they only put two holes in? It's like those are the "lease grade" wheel for trucks

Least useful, come on Greg think about how many extra parts that thing could hold or if nothing else a man could set the bed off besides his shop for storage and put a flat bed or dump bed or even a rollback on the truck part. Many uses. i would love to find one to park next to my 71 C30. Jim

Re: 1969 "ryder" c-30 truck

Nice find, thanks for posting. Rental fleets bought trucks that were tough and reliable and easy to drive for the average person. It was a special ordered truck, I doubt if you'll ever find another C-30 set up the same way.

I really like the look of your new truck, I would leave it alone and enjoy it or at least don't paint it.

Re: 1969 "ryder" c-30 truck

If you want it, you'd better get on over there because once things get onto forums, they have a tendency to get sold really quickly.

I belong to a gun forum that BANS any current or ongoing auction and sales' listings posts......too many people would see it then buy it out from under the original poster. I had it happen to me once.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings with the "least useful truck comment." I still don't think a box truck would be very useful......but I'm not one to convert anything into anything else. If I wanted a flat bed for instance, I'd buy a flat bed, not screw up some original box truck to get a flat bed. Ditto on cutting down lwb's to make swb's. There are swb's all over the place. I wouldn't cut down a Turkish long rifle to make a Turkish short rifle, for instance, even though long rifles are still very common.

If the fuel lines are clogged, I assume you are going to have to either haul this or tow it......which might equal bargaining leverage on the sale. Good luck and keep us posted!

My 71 C30 is a power brakes NO power steering. The guy who delivered it to me from the sale said drive it before changing it over. I thought he was crazy but like he said it drives pretty much like normal. Jim

I actually prefer "No" Power Steering. My '64 C-30 and '68 C-30 have no PS and no PB. My '72 C-30 does and I was dis-appointed to see it, lol.

Awesome truck for sure. Hope you buy it and save it's life.

Not sure I would want to cruise around in a moving van, but that's me. Could make one fine RV camper out of it I guess.

That thing is mint compared to how my Homer looked when I drug him home in late December of last year.

Wink Re: 1969 "ryder" c-30 truck

when i first seen it about 5 yrs ago /i thought this is a must have! the owner was almost angry with me bugging him to sell ,on a rugular basis ! where else can i get some truck that will haul about anything UNDER COVER from the wife.what she dont see ,she wont bitxx about ?? plus it will make a great swap meet truck, going to the races i could use it like a camper PLUS IT DRAWS ATTENTION ? maybe have to block out the "ryder " name or make it" rider" ? with the current" DOT" IN IOWA they now carry guns and mean dogs ?? anyway got to get it home, hope the 16.5 tires hold up/pretty weather cracked !!
