Ha Ha, its for seeing where you are going when you pull a wheelie. That's the GMC cab floor, I guess it could be an escape hatch too.

Nothing spooky but I never have my doors open like that if I can help it, too many bad guys crusing looking for marks. We had a yard sale a while back that had a couple of shady characters hanging around trying to see what was in the garage. I got their license number just in case.

No worries, my shop in on an acre and its at the back behind a large fence, I have dogs and I can see it from my bedroom window...

Great build !

Red is one of the colors along with cream white that are the accent colors on my 57 GMC.

I hadn't thought to bring them into the interior but after seeing them on this thread I will have to bring them in. Heck while I'm at it I might do the firewall also.

So I wanted to relocate my battery but not make it difficult to get to. i have this old tool box and i have toying with the idea of cutting it up and making it into a battery box in the bed. started to see what it will look like.

will weld the drawer fronts to a piece to look like they are functional.

thanks guys, i was getting pretty bogged down with bodywork and it was time to take a break and do something else, and it turned out good. i am really happy with the way the wheels fit the fender too.

i wasn't sure until I started plying with it but I am liking it now. i have a few more small pieces to put in place that are a bit different but nothing to crazy. i have this old WWII trunk i was going to use, my grandad was in the army, but it just never looked right in this year of truck.

I think I'd hit that tool (battery) box with some clear to try and preserve the artwork as much as possible. Looks killer!

Sorry I can't see covering nice varnished wood with an old tool box. If my truck was built for show I would do what Delmo did if I were to hide it. I am keeping mine under the hood I am to old to be crawling over or under anything just to replace a battery that is usually what requires change a long with oil gas,plugs etc...

Just a thought, how many times do you think some idiot won't be tempted to "break into" your battery box, and steal some of those non existent tools?
When they find out how much effort it took to get to just a battery, they might just drive a screwdriver through it to teach you a lesson to not mess with a real thief.

Sorry, but some people are jacked in the head.

I heard of people hammering screwdrivers through corvette batteries to kill the alarm. In fact, Mid America Designs sells a L plate to slide the lower part under the battery so that nobody can look through the louvers on a C4 corvette and drive a screwdriver through the battery to kill the alarm and steal the car.

You know there's some lamented brain dead person gonna try to steal your unattended tool box.
