Re: Radiator Support Pics needed 1951 and VIN Tag info

I don't have pictures of either off the top but the radiator support should look like a big horse shoe with 2 triangle on the outsides that go to the tops of the fenders. Some had an X brace made out of round stock of about 1/4" thickness.

I MAY have something on my photobucket now that I think of it...stuff I sold years ago.

For the VIN. Look for 2 screws down close to the bottom hinge on the driver's side post. They should be diagonal and that should allow you to screw it on there. Top should be the outside edge of the door.

I have some. Put in an aluminum radiator and electric fan last summer, but left the support in place.

Managed to get out between the rain showers and shoot the serial number plate. Attached with a large diameter pop rivet.

From my understanding, the originals were just screwed on up until the 1954s. After that, rivets but my rivets are sunken types on my '54.

This is on my 52. As far as I can tell it has never been off. Original paint.

Re: Radiator Support Pics needed 1951 and VIN Tag info

Both of my 51 Big truck cabs (1-1/2 ton) have the above shown rivets.
My 48 has clutch head screws.

This page has the correct door post plates for the year a guy has and the correct rivets and the rivets aren't expensive compared to some sites http://www.classicparts.com/Paint-De...oducts/848/2/0. I just received a door post plate for the 48 and it's a nice unit as mine is mangled and painted over but I will keep it in the glove box for show and tell if case needs be.
