I posted a thread in the WIW forum, and if someone would take a few minutes to look at it and give me their thoughts, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks. Doug

Re: 48 gmc

Well thanks. When I get ready to list it maybe I can price it where you can’t resist. Thanks for your input

Re: 48 gmc

A 1 ton truck with a dump bed is an interesting rig for some guys who want an older truck that they can actually use as a truck and still take to some Local shows once in a while.
You can haul a load of bark for your wife's garden project in the morning and go to the little show in the park in the afternoon.

I'd hunt down decent (doesn't have to be perfect) original seat for it as no seat is going to be a deal killer for a lot of guys who want it as it is an not as a donor for a 1/2 ton.

I'd stick a photo of it with the bet tilted up to show that the hoist works too.

That the engine will need a ring and valve job at a minimum before long is pretty well a given but even with a bit smoke and blowby a guy can use it locally

Price depends more on who wants it for what than anything else. Guys who want it as a donor for a project aren't going much over 1K and that is if the cab and nose are near perfect. The guy who is into work trucks might give closer to the 2700 if it has a decent seat in it. That might even be the guy who sees it as an advertising rig for his construction company and plans on restoring it and painting the company logo on the doors to enter it in local parades and display at times.

Be careful letting your wife find out that it will haul gravel top soil, bark. mulch and be able able to make trips to the dump though. Trucks that can help do projects or enable projects they had planned but had logistic issues for tend to be a lot more favorable in a lot of gal's eyes.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: 48 gmc

I've got a 77 Dualie with a 10 ft flatbed and hoist on it. I am having a backfire though the carb issue with it right now but when it is running good my wife is always figuring out projects for it and it got a pretty good workout when the whole family had a work weekend at my moms and it got loaded down with weeds and brush. That one will never be a show rig but it gets involved in lots of projects.
