Looking at that door, the metal looks pretty good.
I just started digging into my passenger's - I'm going to need some patch panels.

Your bed looks to be in nice shape also.

Re: My 65 restoration!!!

I just noticed, yours is leafs in the back.

Edit: Never-mind, after doing a search, I see most GMCs were leafs in the back.

Re: My 65 restoration!!!

Great work so far...I see you have what looks to be a summit radiator, what bottom hose did you use? I have one like it and am having issues getting a good fitting hose

Thanks !!

Re: My 65 restoration!!!

Was the truck originally a 4speed 4x4 or did you put in a different center hump? I see it has the ebrake under the dash so the other hole was for a transfer case shift? NICE work, looks like it will be a nice truck when done.

Re: My 65 restoration!!!

Nice progress so far. Is that a summit radiator? If so do you have a part number for the lower hose? Keep up the great progress.

Re: My 65 restoration!!!

65 GMC 1/2 ton truck with all the hard work done! Long bed fleetside. It has a late model front end with 5 lug, power disc brakes, power steering and tilt column, also 5 lug rear end. Late model 5.0 vortec motor with rv cam, edelbrock intake and edelbrock carb, HEI ign, chrome valve covers, new alt and batt, serpetine belt system, custom alumn radiator. 700R4 overdrive automatic trans with shift kit. New brakes, 2 into 1 exhaust with headman headers. 85K orig miles on truck. The motor and trans are about two years old. Was pulled from a doner truck. (1990) Nice body with some rust, mostly in the rockers, floor is solid. Good glass. bought it on august 6th and i am still working on it here are some of the most recent pics.the seats came out of a 93 suburban. will have oak bed, soon sending bed to sandblaster soon and sending truck of to get chassie pulled because it was hit bfore i got it and we could tell because the bumber had 4 holes insted of 2 one on inside of front bumber and other was on ouside of other bolt. each of by inch and we did some measurments from certin points of the trucks frame and it proved that the entireframe is crooked and that the body is straight but the frame its self is all shifted to the right about 1 inch! there is a long wa to go but this is my first car and second rebuild.

other project:
2004 dimondback weedwacker 30 cc 21 speed w/ clutch bike

Re: My 65 restoration!!!

Get your center section of the frame level first then see if the front or rear rails are not level. It could be something other than a bent frame. Tire pressure, sagging spring etc.

Not sure if its an optical illusion but from that pic the right front frame horn looks to be off to the outside a little,,,

I liked to know this also.
I found if I cut 4 inches off the 73-87 upper hose where it connects to the manifold, it fits perfect.
I still haven't found a good lower hose option.
looking forward to hearing back from 65GMCFirstride.

Re: My 65 restoration!!!

The number on the radiator is SUM-381328
then below the barcode
000004577-2-1.

Then for the hose the olny numbers i could see are 01 29 05 9....
