Well I am new to this group a grew up with a 67 small window 3/4 ton when trucks were not popular, since has a 72 Blaser, now we got my boy a 70 shortbed, what the heck is a longhorn I may be missing a play on words but help me out Thanks Ed ke6bnl

Luv the 67-68's, I wanted a 67 with the small window but hard to find here. So I settled for a 68, the markers aren't my favorite, but hey it's really the grille I think is cool. Nice chrome grille, corvette yellow paint....SWEET!!!

SWB 4x4s aren't as rare as 2wd Blazers! So if your going for rare find a 72 2wd Blazer with factory A/C, TILT, TACH.

But any 67-72 would be good for resto.

They are the most popular Chevy truck to restore.

But I'd like to find a 2wd SWB Super, black.

IMO any 67-72 short wheel base is going to be the best looking pickup. My current project is a 67 short-step. I would prefer a short fleet but I got a pretty good deal on the step so rather than look around and lose out to another buyer I bought the step. I'm still on the lookoout for a decent fleet box.

i've got to go with reumster on this the 2wd blaz is pretty rare!
what was the count from 70-72?
less than 10,000 for all three years combined i think it was more like around 3,000 per year or something?
anyway i still think a 72 swb 2wd cheyenne super tilt/tach /air/402/th400/bucket ,ya know fully loaded that is because you couldn't get a big block in a 4x4! so yeah anyways were was i going with this ? otherwise any 67-72 that you can find or that you have interest in is a good one to start. so look for a shorty or a longhorn or a blaz or maybe a burb but something that you want and you don't see much of!!

My uncle bought a 72 Factory 402 LWB with 400 tranny with yes count them 42000 origanal miles! It still had the origanal bies tires! It was a beast tring to keep on the road at 70mph! Um don't worry I slowed down right away!

I have a '69 SB and I really like it although if I had the option again somewhere down the line I would get a '67-68 2WD SB making sure that it is the big window. But I will have to agree I love the 2WD blazers. Darin

wow this thread is almost 2 years old!

however, I would do something different that not many others do. like...a 1/2 ton, lwb, 2wd truck, with no options. restore it to stock. actually there is a truck like this close to my house...'72 GMC C/1500, lwb stepside, 250/3spd, only options are paint and interior colors. from texas, no rust thru (!). bed is pristine too.

Best truck to restore is something YOU want and will be happy with. Case in point, my 72 K10 isn't an original #s matching truck, couldn't find one with what I wanted, so I put it together and because of that it has everything I did want, tilt, air, tach, factory AM/FM, posi, auto, etc., and I'm happy with it, so what if it took 3 or 4 years to restore, I had a 71 C20 beater to drive in the mean time. Ironically the very first 67-72 truck I ever had was a 67 LWB small window stepside back in '76 and hated it. 250 3 speed no options but a radio,, was so happy when I sold it and got my first El Camino, a 64! Ah but who remembers!

Keep an open mind while looking, if you commit to one specific year or model, you might be a long time finding it. You will know your truck when you find it. It might not be rare or special, but heck, you might find that rare truck later, and have more fun doing another! And in the short term you have saved another truck that might have been destroyed.

go with a gmc in those years. you will get more looks from a restored gmc than a restored chevy because everyone has seen so many chevys but a gmc is a little bit harder to find
