Don't get mad

Look I know this doesn't have anything to do will with this forum, but let me explain. I have been a member of a lot of forums over the year. I've built a 68 Chevy c20, multiple scouts, k5 blazers, a bronco, a fj-40 and several high performance diesels. This is the only forum that Ive posted on that I actually get knowledgeable advice from. Case and point, I asked some suspension questions on binder planet and someone told me that you couldn't put terra axles in a scout 2. That being said, I bought a 45 ford 4-6 today that I would like to make a bobber rat rod out of. How would you do this with it still able to handle? Please do delete this post. I just want real gear heads to chime in.

You will have to shorten the frame change out the whole suspension on the truck. This will take a lot of welding and fab skills.

Re: Don't get mad

man that looks like a fun project......
I would probably start first by looking for a newer rolling chassis. doesnt sound like youre afraid of a welder so id start there and take
ALOT of measurements and shorten the frame. are you wanting to keep the tandem axle?

Re: Don't get mad

We have a place here called alternate tinkering. Your build is a perfect fit for there.

Re: Don't get mad

A terra is an international scout truck type vehicle. There's a few of them on Craigslist in eagle point oregon. Not too common. Prone to rust. I think they look cool and would be into them if I didn't already have too many irons in the fire.

Alternate tinkerings would be better. Rat rods are very rarely 4x4s.

Re: Don't get mad

The grill bars on the truck look to be straight. Don't destroy those if you aren't going to use them as they are not reproduced and difficult to find. Look at all of the 42-47 Ford trucks that you see for sale and most have damaged grills or something homemade. You might be able to sell those to help fund the project.
My first impression when I saw this thread was why bother, but I changed my mind when I looked at the pic of the Bobber with a flat head engine and wire wheels. I like it.

Re: Don't get mad

Expanding on what Russell said, if you remove the hood and fenders, the grill will be kinda hanging out in the wind. It's not like it just covers the rad. Getting rid of it would lose some bassassery.
