Limited Slip posi swap

I pulled the diff out of a 94 caprice cop car with the limited slip. What all do I need to do to swap it into my 94 C1500? I am not changing the gear ratio.
Swap ring gears obviously and replace the bearings. Can i just put the posi in place of the old carrier using the same shims? Do I need to do something more complicated?

Re: Limited Slip posi swap

so, i am inquiring about this swap...are the shafts the same splice ?

what year did you grab the carrier from ?

you need to install and measure backlash...moving and shimming accordingly to achieve the .006"-.008" play.

lets us know how this pans out.

Re: Limited Slip posi swap

They are the same 30 spline so no reason shouldnt work. But they aren’t rebuildable from what I’m told. But gotta be better than the grenade lock.....
