Re: What seats are these? Craigslist bought, AWESOME SEATS

There was an outfit in Texas that made those, had a black set in my K30.
Problem I had with them was that in order to recline at a good angle they were too close to the steering wheel.
Seemed like they would work real nice a crew cab or burb.

I also had an identical black set in my 78. I got it from J.C. Whitney.

Re: What seats are these? Craigslist bought, AWESOME SEATS

Those do look very nice, but I seen a post on Facebook, a group for squarebodies. There was a guy that just bought a truck with seats identical to these. He couldn’t hardly fit. They put him super close to the steering wheel & roof. It could have been poor mounting of the seats, by the PO owner. But he was going to have to remove the seats and see if they could be cut down to mount better or go back to the OEM bench. I’ll look around of FB and see if I can find the pic and post it here, if I find it.

I’ve been looking on the FB truck groups, and I can’t find it. But trust me, the guy looked like he was trying to fit himself in a Chevy Luv truck instead of a full size truck.

Re: What seats are these? Craigslist bought, AWESOME SEATS

Bought a set of those from a local dealer, Mr Pickup, about 25 years ago. Definitely aftermarket seats. As others said, they sit higher and closer to the steering wheel then OEM seats. There is bit of space under the seat. Might be possible to modify the mounts so they sit lower as they were likely built as generic as possible.

The fabric is still in good shape. The wood finish is becoming a bit weathered. Got lucky a few years back and found an insulated mug that almost perfectly fits those cup holders.

They are made by Qualitex, found the info in my old K30 build thread.

Finally found it. This pic doesn’t show the seats, but they are bucket seats. That’s what the FB post was discussing, why he didn’t fit in the truck. Everyone was saying it was because the buckets sat too high. But they may not have been mounted correctly. For any seat to work and give you ample room, they need to sit almost directly on the floor of the cab. Granted this fellow is a big guy, but still, he looks pretty cramped in there.

My 81 has the same seat, or pretty darn close. Qualitex are good seats. Mine have been in the truck since it was almost new. There is definitely plent of room with them. That one picture looks like they didn't use the correct mounts.

That’s what I’m thinking too. I know that guy is a big fellow, but it looks as though them seats sit awfully high.

Here is a pic of them in my K30, I am 6ft tall and they didn't work out for me, went back to a stock bench seat.

Nasty-Lsx, theres a company here in Houston that carries those seats in different colors.
I came across his profile on one of the apps. price is a bit steep at $750 with no install.

That was a popular seat in the early nineties but it’s not ideal for a tall person in a square body. I put them in my fathers dually and they feel pretty good but I sat way to high in them

Too bad you’re in Texas. This would be a beast to ship from Washington. I pulled these out of my 86 for a stock bench. I loved the center armrest/storage, but wanted the bench. Still has the square body sliding brackets attached as well.

Re: What seats are these? Craigslist bought, AWESOME SEATS

My '98 Silverado factory seats look very similar to these and can be found in pick-n-pulls regularly.

But, as others have mentioned, there can be height issues because of the pedestal style seat mounts. I am 6'3" and don't think they would come close to working for me without channeling them into the floor boards. . . way too much work.
