How do you remove tailights/reverse lights?

Today marks the day I start taking my 1970 chevy C10 short bed apart and get it ready for paint. Not more than 20 minutes into it and I run into a problem. How does one remove the tail light and reverse light from the body of the truck? I am referring to the wiring... Do I just pull it out of the cup where the light bulb sits in?

I hope I'm explaining this right.... Any help would be appreciated!
