Re: 1987 R10...aka Belushi

Well, I miscounted (didn’t actually count at all ) the speedo gear, so I had to order the correct speedo housing. Dumb@$$ rookie move, but oh well.

I did cut, buff and 3 coats of wax the inside of the bed, even though it’ll be getting the bed liner reinstalled. I also cleaned up the few thin spots in the bed floor paint... sanded, naval jelly the thin spots, rust converter on the few spots and paint touch up for all the spots. All to be covered up...

For Desert1957,

Here are pictures of the 90 degree adapter/reducer that shows the reduction ratio.

Re: 1987 R10...aka Belushi

Since the in-cab fuel tank selection switch didn’t get the passenger tank setup working, I pulled the passenger tank and checked the pump & float. Both worked which tells me that the under cab tank selector switch was no good. Well, I pulled the cover off the selector switch to find it unplugged... #WTF# So, I’ll grab a new one on the way home from work on Monday. Maybe that’ll fix that issue #fingers crossed#

The sport bumper looks like the OE front bumper. That's a nice looking truck, OP. I can only imagine how nightmarish it would look if they tried to make a modern truck's rear bumper match the front. The ground clearance and clean simplistic looks are two thing I love about squares.

Thanks on the compliment! It’s been a lot of work getting to this point and I still have a few more projects left on it.

You are right Wyatt, I can’t imagine them making the fronts & rears look so similar. And I love squares...they’re where I started.

No pictures, but I pulled the d/s tank cover and cleaned both of them really well, scuffed and painted them Satin Canyon Black. They had some blue overspray from whenever it was repainted at some point in the past.

Re: 1987 R10...aka Belushi

Well, I replaced the tank switch valve. Put a few gallons of gas in the passenger side tank and fired it up...on the left tank and switched it. It died. I primed the r/s pump several times and hit it and it cranked and spit & sputtered but wouldn’t RuN. D@mn!!! So new pump assembly has been ordered.

Re: 1987 R10...aka Belushi

Thank you Amazon Prime! New pump & float assembly will be here tomorrow. I went ahead and pulled the tank and got everything ready for the new pump assembly install. Lot harder to pull the tank with 3 gallons of gas sloshing around in there

I had already pulled it once to check everything. I put the 3 gallons in it to test the new Pollak valve... I checked to make sure the pump worked while the tank was out but didn’t check pressure output. Hence, why I’ve got the damn thing back out.

Re: 1987 R10...aka Belushi

The new Speedometer gear housing arrived this morning so I got that thrown in. Fuel pump assembly is out for delivery...so hopefully Belushi will be ready to drive again this afternoon.

Re: 1987 R10...aka Belushi

Speedo appears to be right on now

Passenger side fuel pump assembly is working like a champ along with the new Pollak valve, so winner there too.

So I took some pictures of it before taking it to fill the passenger side fuel tank.

Not much today, but I did vacuum the carpet and put the new Lloyd’s one piece floor mat it... I blame Tina (TKCR) for that

I also started detailing under the hood. I’ll get some pictures of that when I complete it.

Re: 1987 R10...aka Belushi

Saddest of days in the shop today... my sweet Australian Shepherd passed away this morning. She was my most constant companion in the shop. Always ready to lay under a car or truck and lick my face while I was losing my temper trying to fix something. She was my emotional support animal for sure. Her son, the black & white Aussie in the 2nd pic, hasn’t EVER been without her a day in his 5+ years, so I’m really worried about him too.

Farewell Kora!

So sorry to hear of your best friend passing away. Dogs are the best, they are never judge-mental and are always there when you need them, no matter what. They will always be missed!!

Yeah man! It was totally a surprise. She was only 7-1/2 yrs old She developed an autoimmune response after getting her vaccinations in May, kinda like lupus in humans. She just couldn’t tolerate anything stressful. Heat=bad stressful and I’m in the humid & hot Alabama. We kept her in the house just about all the time, but just couldn’t overcome. She was absolutely the most phenomenal buddy I’ve ever had.
