Project no name step 68 K10

Hello Gents,
Long time listener first time caller to the 4x4 side. Picked up this 68 recently from Southern California. PO told me he purchased the truck from Somewhere up in the San Bernardino national forest where it lived most of its life as a ski resort utility truck. That’s about the only history I have. Anyway it’s runs and drives and that’s all that matters during a slow build like this one. I’ll gather the parts I need before going under the knife. Plans for the build are no body work, replace the bed wood, chrome bumpers, reupholster the seat, new autometer gauges and bezel, freshen up the trans(was told it’s a SM465), clean up interior, clean up engine compartment replace the small block with a stroker, swap out axles and add some disc brakes. Oh yeah wheels of choice, 35” boggers on a weld super single wheel. Once again slow build as I gather the parts I need.

Really cool truck there. Sounds like you have some solid plans for the truck. Is the motor a 327? Again really cool truck.

Thank you. Unknown if it is a 327. PO could not remember, but I wasn't to worried knowing I was going to pull it and swap in a 383. I think It should move well with a 4 or 6 inch lift and 35 or 37's.

Re: Project no name step 68 K10

Not much of an update, but more so trying to get info as I search for parts. I was able to get my hands on a recently built short block 383 stroker motor. Comes with an oil pan, mini starter, flywheel and solid .525 lift cam. As we get into winter I’ll look for a set of aluminum cylinder heads and a fuel injection system to top that 383 off with. With that said I wanted to start looking for a set of weld super singles to wrap in a set of boggers and opened a can of worms when I started looking into axles. My questions are these before I commit to purchasing a set of 6 lug wheels. 1. What axles do I have? 2. Are the sufficient for the power plant I want to drop in? Any and all info is greatly appreciated thanks.
