Hey man have you already had the bed on the truck with the drop shackles? I have done a few of these trucks with shackles and had to cut the bed brace to get them to fit.

yea i was going to get the 3/4 drop from beltech.its like the same set up idk if im going to cut some off the front spring..how can you go lower in the back?in the pics it looks at the highest point on the shakels ?

you could remove a few leafs or get lowering leafs springs

yea but wouldnt that sagg down tomuch with some wight in the bed or pulling a trailer?

yes it would but you could add helper bags and if would give you little more towing capacity and also you'll have adjustable rear ride height

Jmuck, yepper the bed brace had to be cut, I'm gonna cut me some sheet metal and weld it there to clean it up. I should be down Father's Day weekend and you know I will be looking you up bro.

3r!c84 If I am not mistaken I believe if I drop it down to the next hole it will lower it a little more in the rear, I think that's correct.

it only has 4 on each side

and on the shakel its allready on the top hole you cant lower it any more u can more it down to the lower hole but thats is going to lift it in the back

3r!c84; oh okay, I couldn't remember, I'm gonna leave it like that. I full tank of gas in the rear might lower it a little and flush mount bed cover. I will also be a trailer with my '70 VW on the back occasionally. Thanks for that info

3r!c84, yeah I had to cut into the bed support for the shackles to clear. I will post a pic either later tonight or tomorrow, I am about sit the bed back on for a few minuts so I can mock up were to cut the filler hole in the bed floor.

Well I got a little further this weekend. I spent Saturday pulling weeds and trimming hedges (did not plan on doing that); took my son to play a basketball game, put the bed on the truck to measure were I needed to cut the filler door in the bed floor, which i did not get it cut yet , but it will the next couple of days. Today I drilled the holes in the front and rear braces, that holds the fuel tank, to bolt up the skid plate. What a PITA, but I guess when your tooling with these ole trucks it's to be expected. Wasn't too bad I don't guess. The reason there is not bolt in the right side of the rear brace for the skid plate is that I forgot to re-tap it. I had to re-tap all the nut-holes in the skid plate due to the rust. There is always 1 you either forget or one that gives you hell.

3r!c84, I forgot to take a pick of underneath the bed, I should be able to get it done tomorrow evening after work.

Forgot to add pics; I am now trying to figure out what to do about the fuel lines from the sending unit of the tank. The motor is TBI so I am not for as to what I need to do, Take measurements and call inline tube, get some, russell, aeromotive, etc and plumb. I sent a message to SCOTTROD because I rad in Truckin' were Hill's Hot Rods put an '87 Blazer Tank in his truck, hopefully he will respond or I may try and call Hill's tomorrow to see what they say. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to let me know. After I get that out the way I will make sure that everything is were it needs to be and I will start unbolting braces and the start the 3-stage por-15 process to the rear. Oops I still have to remove the hangers, shackles and leaf springs, which I can do while waiting to see what route to take on the fuel lines. The hanger and shackle will be coated in the polished ceramic and the leaf springs in Satin Black. Thanks everyone and PLEASE give me some ideas or contacts for the fuel lines issue.

fuel lines are gonna be the easiest thing to do just buy regular steel or aluminum lines b/c stainless lines are so hard to bend and harder to flare.

I would suggest 3/8" aluminum lines and just bend it where you need it to go along the frame. You can actully do alot of your bends by hand with the soft aluminum lines. Use small pieces of rubber to make them connect or flare them and bolt them together. Rubber is easier with just a regular hose clamp. Does the tank have the fuel pump inside or are you running an external one? Let me know and I will help any way I can.

JMUCK, it will be an in-tank pump, sounds pretty simple and cost saving$$$ which is right up my alley, I believe summit sales a roll of tubing, I need to order me a roll. I believe my sending unit has 3 different sizes, 3/8, 1/4 (vacuum) and I believe 5/16 I will have to double check. U R Da Man

Bingo, went to Oreilly's to see if they had any steel lines that I could use for fuel and they had various lengths of steel brake lines with fittings. So I will be using those for the main fuel line, return line and vacuum line. I just need to get the correct measurements and a tube bending tool. They were around $11.00 for a 5ft length. One more step out the way.

Nice find. We carry those lines at our hardware store too. They are a real life saver for a town with not automotive store yet.

Get the lines as long as you can b/c the less fittings the less problems with leaks. That is the good thing about buying a roll of line you will have no fittings in the middle of the frame. You can get a tubing bender from Jegs or Summit for less than $10.00 but if your local auto parts has one for a little bit more it would be worth getting it from there b/c you have no wait time and no shipping cost.
