1969 Farm truck

Hey guys I posted a build on here a bit ago for my girls 66 c10 thats in Cali at the moment. Seen here... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=674200
Anyways I got the bug and wanted my own project. So after some search I found this 1969 C10 long bed pretty much all original truck for sale on CL. After some back and forth we settled on a price and I went and picked it up. I was kinda excited for how clean it was and at the time I thought it was a "barn find" type of thing. Well come to find out after i got it home its been painted but the paint job was ok. Heck it ran and drove so i was happy.
List of things needed so far:
Battery
Battery cables (both are black..)
Tires
One 6 lug 15x5.5 rim (LMK if anyone has one please)
Recover the seat.
gotta do something about the steering wheel.
Leaning towards a new carb. The factory one doesnt start well or run well, boggs out when you give it gas. Prior owner said he rebuilt it but who know. Could possibly be bad gas also.
Fix the grill, has a few large dents im going to try and get out.
New marker lights
New tail lights
Fix drip rail
Buff out the paint
Dash pad
Wiring (headlights ect)

This things kinda cool

Re: 1969 Farm truck

Hey Raptor, looks like the truck has a lot of potential. I am interested to see how you do on straightening out the grill, my 1970 has some similar dents and replacements are pricey.

Thanks it is, but that's the problem I work better on rougher stuff so I don't feel bad when I chop it up lol. I would trade this thing for a 68 that needs work lol.

Yeah they are. I'm not sure if it will be straight but it will be straighter than what it is now! I hope lol

Re: 1969 Farm truck

Well last night i jumped on some 22's for the truck for 150. Im gonna have to open up the center a 1/2 to make them fit but should fit perfect. Still undecided if im going to repaint them the same black...or gloss black or white or i dunno.

Also did some buffing. This is just the cut on the passenger side of the hood, I haven't put any polish on it yet.

Then I did the side back to the bed and gave up for the day. Im really shocked how well this paint polished up

Re: 1969 Farm truck

So i was going back and forth on what i should use to open up the center of the wheels to fit the truck. Well it came out to a wood puck and a 3 1/2" hole saw. Worked good.

I cant wait to strip the rims, paint and then throw some tires on it to see how it looks. Really needs to be lowered!

Re: 1969 Farm truck

Its been a bit but I have painted the rims, installed brand new 265/35r22 tires and tonight put some jeep springs in the rear.

Before the 1.5" wheel spacers in the rear and lowering springs

Stock springs VS TJ jeep springs

ooo shes low...rear bumper is about a foot off the ground

Im waiting on my new wheel cylinders to arrive on Monday from Rock auto. I got the shoes and drums already. Then im going to cut the front springs a coil so 2" drop and new front brakes to stop the beast. I also have a new starter on the way. The stocker is pretty weak. I put in a HEI distributor and wires the other day also.

Re: 1969 Farm truck

Well I got a few things done to the truck in the last 2 days. all new front brakes, new starter, cut the coils in the front one coil, chiseled off about 5 lbs of dried mud from the front arms, removed the bumpers for paint, removed the grill for hammer and dolly work, picked up a new torker 2 intake and edelbrock AVS carb and threw those on, when I pulled the intake I had a nice surprise waiting for me. #2 cylinders intake stud pulled out causing the push-rod to come off. I just smashed the stud back in its about 1/4" farther into the head than before and should work. Runs like a top.

this thing is like a whole new truck compared to what I started with lol

Re: 1969 Farm truck

Truck looks great , I bought a 70' grill in perfect shape on eBay for $285 shipped and it's now on my 72' . I drove it with a 63' Comet grill shoved in between the headlights for 3 years after I hit a deer and that looked sick !

Re: 1969 Farm truck

Put in a new alternator, belt and headlight switch yesterday. So we took it for a shake down run to Sonic....runs great no issues. Hard to beleive this thing was put out in the back of the farm years ago.

Also have a early 90's 4 spoke chevy steering wheel in the mail. Trying to get more room and cut down on turning the wheel so much. Should give me more belly room too lol
