I have a spare set of beat up power window doors for a square body and was thinking it might be pretty straight forward to take the parts needed from the donor doors and merge them with some 67-72 regulators.

I am going to try it but need to pick up a spare 67-72 door to work on as I don't want to ruin the ones on my 67 if it doesn't work out for some reason.

Might try to install the power locks too.
I did this about 20 years or so ago. I think I used the regulators out of about an 82 Impala. From what I can remember the regs look similar. I cut the arms off the truck reg and welded them to the car reg and not sure if I had to re-dril mounting holes. It worked out real well though.

That is good to hear. My fear was that the door shell was set up in a way that there was no clearance for the power window motor on the stock regulator.

Once I find a decent driver side door to work on I will do a write up on the process and post up some pics.

Re: Who's running power windows?

Hello and good day.. You had said:
I have a custom interior so I went with a double switch mounted in the console and used a set of stainless "hot-rod" style wire looms to run the wires out the front of the door into the cab which turned out quite well.
Question. How did you decide where to run the wires through the door and the post. Did you drill the hole for the loom in the door and the post with the door closed from the inside of the door?

I remember years ago when I ran the speaker cables through the side panel. What a pain.. It appears to me that the loom has to be able to remain completely through the side panel when the door is closed and open.. so that is feeds in and out without hitting the inside of the door panel wall if it was too short?
Sure would appreciate a picture if possible, if not I am sure I can visualise what you did if you explain it to me..

It is the one thing that has been stopping me from putting the conversion in for so long.. Can't remember the brand off hand, but 6 years ago it was considered the best on the market, with true delco motors and oem duplicate factory switches.. I have the doors part way apart getting ready to put regulators in and I am thinking, hmmmm,, I have the conversion kit.. should I put it in? I thought it might even be necessary to remove the doors to drill the holes in the post, and possible even the door..

appreciate your time and input.. thank you..

Re: Who's running power windows?

Would love to send pics, but I am in Afghanistan for a few more months. The previous owner drilled holes in down in that area. I would put in power windows every chance I get. I love the mod.
