Air Bag Steering Wheel R & R
Any tips to help me through this? I have never messed with an airbag steering wheel. I did have the good fortune of someone advising me I need to wait about 20 minutes after disconnecting the battery to start in on disconnecting. Is that sound advice? Is 20 long enough? Any other advice? I'm the first to admit I am not the modern day mechanic. And this is just a '95. Newer stuff is more voodoo to me than mechanics . When I was a kid I just tore into things and fixed them until I was able to rebuild and restore. These days I worry about making things worse. Kinda like Grandpa teaching me a bad horseshoe job can cripple the horse

95 has air bag?? I knew the interiors are new, but for some reason I thought air bag was 96, driver side, then both sides after that in 1/2 tons.

Re: Air Bag Steering Wheel R & R
When we did my friends car, we disconnect battery and pulled the relay(s) for the air bags. He had heard to do that as an extra precaution, but don't know if it is really needed or not.

Re: Air Bag Steering Wheel R & R
Airbog removal is easy. Use a pointed object, like a compass or pick, and push in all 4 tabs in the back. Turn the wheel 90 degress and you can get all of them at once. It will pop right up. Once you pull it out a bit, you can access the connector.

95 and 96 have the driver's air bag, 97up have both airbags.

Re: Air Bag Steering Wheel R & R
When I worked at the dealership almost 20 years ago it was unhook the battery and unplug the yellow connector under the dash. Then remove the bag.
