Project ZZ502

Okay....I'm new to the Data logging TBI stuff, but very interested in trying to make this project work. I cant find any posts on a 502 TBI setup.
Project Truck = 1993 454SS, 4L80E with the 14bolt 4.10 gears.
Normal upgrades...chip, K&N filter, MSD 6 w/distributor, headers and flowmasters. The stock 220hp and 375trq are mild by todays standards. The ZZ502 crate is in the garage waiting to go in. If the TBI setup isnt a feasible project. My second choice is using a Holley carb. w/TPS...will this keep the trans., cruise control, tach., speedometer and other items functioning.

All input will be be greatly appreciated.

Mark

Re: Project ZZ502

Mark,
I have done several TBI swaps on rockcralwers but only for 305/350 set ups. With all the new technology out there, I would think you would just have to find out what cfm works with your motor and find a throttle body and ECU to match up. I know Holley has the 950, but that may be lean for that much cubic inch. Several companies now have the smart systems that are pretty much plug and play, but on the expensive side. Most of my projects are low budget and come from the pull and pay and I don't think there are a lot of 502s in the salvage yard. Throw some pictures on here.

Re: Project ZZ502

Seems that the 1993 is using the last generation OBD1 ECM's.
Kinda like a OBD 1.5 version....not as smart as the obd 2's.....
The 4L80E has a control box that is piggybacked off of the ECM. I recently found that Howell makes an ECM w/wiring harness for the FAST TB w/4 injectors for the 454/502. It will support up to 600hp. Now just need to gather up all the pieces for the engine swap. Next I will need to learn what I can about Data Logging to fine tune this combination.

Thanx for the input MalibuVLX
