What's it worth in central IL?

What is a locked up 454 unmolested complete from intake to pan with motor mounts, all pulleys and brackets worth. Guy says it's out of a 75 truck. He bought motor this way and wants to sell it. He told me he would sell me the 454 and a th400 that he doesn't know wether or not it is good, for $400. Is this a good deal?

He'd be lucky to get more than $50 from me.
If he don't know if the tranny is good, think of it as a core.
Without cracking open the locked up engine, you have no idea what lurks inside. It may be all junk.
If the large end of a rod broke, not only will te crank be toast, but the cylinder wall will be FUBARed too. Then all you have is an intake, valve covers a dizzy, and maybe a set of smogger heads.
Pass on it.
