Nice progress. Just be sure to weld slow and switch from one side to the other to keep the heat down....don't want an oil can roof

Looking good. I like your temporary fasteners for holding the patch panels too.

The clips came from Harbor freight. $5.99 for 8 I think. They are a huge help, only wish they had a few more threads to help while trying to line everything up.

Welded a little more on the roof, still not done. Not sure how its going to turn out yet. I've already had some major "oil canning" which I cured with some pie cuts, but I really don't think its possible to get it perfect. I'll worry about re-skining the roof when it comes time for a good paint job....years.

I did get my new radiator in, after the "good" one I bought turned out bad. I bought it off of ebay, $165 to my door. Its a 2 core radiator and when I emailed they said it had one 1" core and one 1/2" core. I think they are wrong, looks like two 1" cores to me I can only hope to test the abilities of this radiator! Only complaint is the rad cap comes very close to the hold down, clears though.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Thanks everyone.

No pictures this time, camera is dead. I finished up the sunroof hole and threw some filler on it. Doesn't look very good, but I can work on looks later. I welded the stake pockets shut and painted the bedsides. Also finally found a good hood and painted it quick. Hood will go on as soon as I find time to go to the auto shop on base and sand blast the hinges. Windshield goes in on Thursday and placed a order with CPP for some suspension parts today. This thing might be on the road for Crusin' the Coast!

Windshield in!

What the roof looks like, far from perfect.

Bed sides painted.

Side marker light fill. Still need to mount the filler hose inside the bed.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Two fuel pumps later we're in business, truck runs pretty good. Smokes a little, but for how long it needs to last should be ok. Today I got all the lights working, just need to work on the horn and this thing should pass inspection. Tomorrow it comes out of the garage for the first time since January....will post pics.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Thanks everyone, there is no way I could have made it even this far without this board and it's members.

Whats next? Well last night I got the back bumper on. After I get it inspected I'm going to be driving it and just doing weekend projects, but I plan on a drop, different motor and trans along with a actual bed floor.......this thing still has a lot of work to be done!

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Back bumper on and I pressure washed 20+ pounds of crap off the engine and rest of the truck. Still need to finish cleaning the engine bay.
