'88 TBI 454 in my '70 Suburban:

4x4, so no 'engine stands' per-se, just stock SBC engine mounts with some 1/2" plate steel spacers between them and the block to raise the oil pan a smidgen. Cutouts in the firewall to clear valve covers (another 4x4 thing again). Ceramic coated Doug's D303Y headers. Stock '88 C3500 water pump, brackets, etc...

ItsRandy, are you using a short water pump with March serpentine pulleys? I see you have a stock style alternator bracket, but what kind ofpower steering pump bracket are you using?

Keith, how do those Chevelle mid lengths fit? Did you have to do any trimming or notching?

Yeah i had to trim the passenger side frame rail about a 1/4". In the 3rd picture I posted you can see the blue tape on the frame marking where to grind. They do fit without trimming but there was around a 1/8" clearance to the frame which was to close for me. They fit great everywhere else including the factory frame stands. Plus they are budget friendly, I bought mine for $300.00 with free shipping from streetside auto.

Short water pump with March pulleys but not serpentine. Chevelle alternator bracket and a Zoops power steering bracket with a stock remote reservoir pump.

My engine stand is a '68 swb and I converted to long pump because I am not a fan of the alt being over by my fender well.

Lots of nice looking BBs in this thread - always fun to see how people do them up - even stock!! Getting this ready to install in my '72 Burb, maybe today or tomorrow. Looks like Hezie & I have similar taste in valve covers - modified mine a little.

OK this is probably a dumb question, but what kind of fuel mileage do guys think I would get with a mild 402/700R4/3.07 gears?

Not much but look at these things...they are beautiful!
Personally I'm not going to be driving mine long distances at a time so I really don't care. We have lots of small blocks, even a old 9:1 BUSH Cup motor that likes to turn 7000rpm but nothing sounds like a big Rat motor!
Sorry for the crazy rant....your looking at 10-15 mpg.

Matt, I get around 10 when I do the Shades trip. Not bad for 600hp and a giant cam.(I don't think so anyway.)3.08's and a richmond 5 speed.Around here alot worse but I do like to play.
