cowl screen
hey does anyone have a screen or know where to buy a screen of some sort to put in the cowl? i just see this area getting full of junk that will cause grief later on. thanks. btw, pics are always helpful and appreciated.

u can get some stainless expanded metal , that would look sweet , there is alot of different sizes and you can get it from a local metal shop

The board vendors carry premade ones.You just remove the cowl and bolt them on.I used twist ties off of bread loaves to hold mine to the cowl then started the bolts/screws and removed the ties.They come in stainless or black powdercoat.I got mine from Tim Christian but I'm sure most vendors carry them

Aren`t those things like $50?They are a great idea,but should be more affordable,I think.Especially when something could be made for dirt cheap.I guess when you have just one truck it doesn`t seem so bad.

This is what I did on mine. I wanted something I didn't have to spend a lot of time with. Bought it at Lowes Lumber yard. Cheap and easy to install and cut.
There are a log of good ideas from the other guys here also. |

Go to Lowes and buy window screen for home windows. You can buy it in differant colors to as long as it's black and gray. It keeps almost all debri out even pine needles.

I just glued my fiberglass window screen in using epoxy. It works great and hardly noticeable.

thanks guys, so stupid question....to remove the cowl, i will just have to raise the hood and remove the wipers then unbolt it, correct? or is there something i am missing? thanks again.

Open the doors and take the 2 9/16" bolts out of the side of the cowl. There are two more on top. Then take wiper's off and all the S/S screws along the rubber strip for the motor. There are some more up by the wiper's also.

That gutter screen and expanded metal leaves too big of a hole to catch everything and snags leaves.I do like Andy and use window screen.

I also went with the fibreglass screen. I used silicon to glue it to the underside of the cowel. I saw a post awhile back where another member had done the same except they use HM glue. I couldn't get the hot melt to stick.
The picture doesn't do it justice. It looks and works great!
