I have not read the post, but will say I think a section in the gallery would work better than a forum.

Re: Interior Forum

I was not thinking of just pictures to show off the finished work.

My idea is a forum where interior specific questions can be asked and answered. Interior builds could be posted here to show others how it was done or if you wanted to ask how something comes apart on so on....

example, I was looking at how to build door panels for a square body. I found an old thread on another forum that helped, but not a detailed like many do here....

Re: Interior Forum

I understand that, but how would that not be year specific then? Just asking, not being ugly etc... I know its hard to tell in type.

If I want a method to do something on a square, I would go to the 73-87 area. The interior is different on a task force and I would talk about it in the 47-59 area and so on.

I myself like having specific discussion such as interior or detailing etc.. the majority of members end up hating it and refusing to use them.

So sell us on this idea.

Re: Interior Forum

My thought was an area to show off the interiors of all trucks. I know that some people would go to a specific section for that info, but I (and others mostl likely) like to look at other years and get ideas to use in our own builds.

Like how you built door panels, rear cab covers or such, consoles, etc...

Searching for interior specific stuff is difficult. I know that other sites have been used for this but I would rather find it here...

I am not a salesman, so if there is not enough support for the idea, I fully understand...

Thanks,

Re: Interior Forum

I honestly think its a great idea. Lots of good info on bench seat bracket differences, seat belt routing, how to remove headlight switch, etc is available but its not all in one specific place.

I'd rather see a forum for LS related threads to leave room for 67-72 related topics, such as interior.

LS already has two, the LS Swap in the Engine Forum and the LS Classifieds in the for sale section.

Sorry, I didn't ever see that since I never go to the engine forum. I'll start reporting the misplaced threads. I knew about the classified, but that isn't a forum. your idea is a good one, especially knowing what I know now.

Re: Interior Forum

I am seeing a good bit of LS related threads since I posted. I guess the LS forum is only for actual swap threads. My point is 67-72 topics can only be broken down so much before there's not much left in it's forum, so take out what takes us away from the 67-72 essence. Interiors can be original or custom...and there will always be non-original things done to these trucks, so custom is related. LS swapping in these trucks is so prevalent it threatens to dominate a place that is meant for info/conversation for 40+ year old technology, not computer controlled turn of the century. There is also a 99-present forum for these engines/systems info. I see the value in having a general interior forum, but I wouldn't want to see every thread that mentions something interior related be robbed from it's 67-72 place, if it's original. Maybe a "Custom Interior" forum would be the thing to have. That's my suggestion

I guess I've been looking at this through 67-72 forum eyes and not all years combined.. I'm just saying I wouldn't want every mention of interior robbed from the year specific forums. I'm not sure what your intent is, but certainly a forum for custom tricks and "complete interior builds" would be cool

Now you're thinking with your dipstick!!

You hit the nail on the head with what I was trying to get across. I agree, the "new" forum should not take away from year specfic topics like headlight switches, ignition switches, glove box issues, etc. that are specific to that given year(s). Thanks for your support of this idea!

Thats actually the opposite. We have added forums over the years that people ask for. Once they are "built" no one wants to use them and most get mad if a post is moved there. The forums are then not used, and removed. A few months later, someone suggests we should have that very same forum. Its happened countless times.

I do so like this idea, you just need to show us folks would use it

Re: Interior Forum

Many members use this site with blinders on. They go to a handful, if that, of forums and never look at the rest. Unfortunately, this is one of those that most don't view. So, it's pretty ironic trying to get as much response as needed in a forum few view. Maybe we should drop this one > JUST KIDDING!! But whatcha gonna do? I guess the best thing is start pointing people here to get the topic being discussed. You can put together the most organized easy to use site (like this one) yet you can't account for how people will use it. Human behavior, is a factor the administrators can only attempt to figure. it either pans out or not

Re: Interior Forum

There are around 50 forums now and I dunno how many sub forums. I don't have a problem with an interior forum, but once you have it then people will probably want year specific sub forums and on and on. Maybe if you do give it a go have some sort of drop down that you can choose for the year you are posting about so it goes in the title?

Re: Interior Forum

Make it one single forum for "Custom Interior". that way it stays totally interior related while leaving OEM style interiors related stuff in it's specific year forum to be handled the same as any other area of that year truck. In other words, if a member asks what color his dash pad should be or if his peddles had trim originally or what trucks got headliners, etc. it doesn't get moved away from the experts

Re: Interior Forum

In the general truck forum we have "truck audio" that seems to cover every truck with different interiors because audio is part of the interior......I dont see it as too afr a leap to do just an interior section in the general truck forum.....majority of the trucks have upgraded seating because of the creature comforts than original factory equipped...but two sections would be good.....original(restored) & custom(fabricated).........not jumping on anyone but adding my $.02...............

This. Custom ideas, most of the time, aren't year specific and can help alot more people if put into one single catagory. Just advertise that its a new forum, kinda like how we do TOTM. If you made a thread in each truck forum and made links to the new forum i think alot of people would expand their horizons and check it out and contribute.

Re: Interior Forum

I'm not sure were I'm at right now, but I got here from a link that Aggie91 posted on my thread on "how to do door panels". I really think an Interior forum would be great, it doesn't have to be year specific, it could be a place that members could show interiors or show how to do parts of an interior. Just my .02 cents worth...Jim
