Dirt Every Day

The other day I watched the Dirt Every Day episode where the cut the roof off a F250, and lifted it. I was kind of digging on it. Not enough to do it, but it still got me thinking.

Obviously they have tv budgets, and time frames to work with.

But let's say I was to recreate the project. Is there any disadvantage to shortening the body, and welding the bed to the cab portion? Think a F250 version of a CJ8?

I am fairly new to 4x4's. Currently I have a 1/2 finished Willy's wagon that I will work on when I take a weeks vaca in December. Plus I had a K20, but I only explored dirt roads with it.
