Rear track width help for bagged guys???

Ok need some help. Trying to find the width from outside of tire to outside of tire that will clear the bedsides when layed out. The reason is I have a newer axle I am narrowing and am running some deep dish wheels and I don't have a bed yet that I can measure off. Thanks in advance

Have you got the tires mounted? What style bed are you going to run?

Going to be running a fleet side bed. Just really need to know what the width of the bed is at its narrowest point inside the fender wells

Re: Rear track width help for bagged guys???

If you have a 12 bolt or 10 bolt from a 70-87 gm truck then those rear ends are 1.5" wider than a 63-69. I run 8" ralley wheels and a 71 12 bolt and i can drop all the way down if i want to and wont rub anywhere.

Sorry i dont have the exact measurements for you.

Re: Rear track width help for bagged guys???

OK how tall a tire and how low on the truck. Will make a difference on where to measure the bed. If you are going to end up past the point where the bed side rolls in it gets a few inches narrower on both sides in a matter of a couple of inches. So the measurements of the bed side below the body line will be about 5 inches wider then above the body line. When we tub a car we always have the wheel with the tires mounted and pumped up and put them under the car and set the car at ride height before measuring for a rear end. in your case it would be best to set the frame at the lowest height you plan to go and drop the tire and wheel in there with a bed on the truck. Tire heights and inflated widths can make a big change in placement. If you need a long bed I have one you can have, just ride up and get it.

Re: Rear track width help for bagged guys???

The bed width inside the flat inner panel is 72". If laying on the ground, your wheels will come up that far and will have to stay within that 72" to clear. If you trim some of that ledge, you can gain just a hair more, but have to be careful. If you grind too much of that ledge off, it can separate the panel and will see it on the outside.

Hope this helps.

Re: Rear track width help for bagged guys???

Thanks guys. I understand how to do everything. Just need a damn bed I could measure off since the 60-66 are impossible to find around here in nc. I'm running what I believe is a 71 12 bolt which measures around 64.5" wms-wms. going to be running a 28.5" tire laying close to rockers. If you are saying you can lay out with rally wheels all the way I guess that would be close to 72.5" outside to outside of tire.

72" is the measurement just inside that area. You can fudge a 72.5" with the trimming I mentioned. Would be close.
