best paint for exterior?

In your expert opinions folks, what paint would you consider the best quality in a base coat/clear coat ? My painter bought a gallon of something i've never heard of and said it is a good quality, custom paint. My interior is a PPG one-step paint which looks good. I only want to do this one time and was wondering if ya'll thought that you are only buying a name when you buy paint ? The painter said that he could use this paint on something else if I wanted PPG. He said this paint was only $25 a gallon cheaper than PPG and that he used it all the time. I cant verify this and have some doubts cause im very paint inexperienced.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Guy

Valspar is a HUGE company. They own House of Kolor paints as well as many others. I dont know how the quality is and would guess they may have different lines of paint some of better quality. I am not an expert but would like to hear from others on the quality preference I think it is alot of loyalty to one brand vs another I bet there are several good quality paints even some "no name" brands. This may start a "war" but I really dont know but am in the same process and would like to know some real experience.
Thanks

I've been experimenting with various brands of paint, and so far the best in my opinion is DuPont Acrylic Enamel, with Martin Senour next in line. DuPont is quite proud of their paint, so if you're on a budget, you should consider the Martin Senour (it's about half the cost of DuPont).
