Not all years’ hugger orange are the same color

I know most probably know this, but just so everyone is aware...

If you are trying to paint your 70-72 truck hugger orange (aka: red orange 524) that they originally came in, this is not the same hugger orange found on the 69 Camaro nor the same hugger orange color on the newer 1999-2000 Camaro. All three are different colors and different codes from the major paint companies.

From what I’ve seen in comparisons, the 70-72 truck hugger orange is less “burned” looking and more red...it’s the most different of the three in my opinion.

If you like the other oranges, great....enjoy. But if you want it to be factory, be aware if you go to your paint guy and say “hugger orange”.

A proper paint guy should be asking you for a lot more detail of you just have a name. You really need the actual code. Names are just easier to remember for regular people.

I use paint codes not names. But thanks for the heads-up. Information is good. I've only had it on '72s, so I call it Red Orange.
