88 Burb Tailgate window stuck down

The rr window of my '88 burb has been acting spotty, and today it went down and quit working after that. Took the tailgate inside covers off but can't find a way to get the window up so I can get to the mechanism to troubleshoot it.

When I turn the key in the tailgate, I can hear a small click coming from the motor.

Any ideas on how to get the window up?

Thanks,

Kurt

It's fixed. There's an interlock switch on the pass. side. Pushed it in with a screwdriver while turning the key and things started to work. Adjusted the latch mechanism and was at least able to get the vehicle weathertight for now.

Good! I was just going to suggest that before tossing a regulator at it. How is the channel? The material gets rotted and the steel rusts. Did it get stuck mostly at about 3/4 closed going up? That's where the glass has to shift forward to go with slant of the back.

Re: 88 Burb Tailgate window stuck down

The tracks look OK. Compared to the rest of the truck, what with sheets of paint peeling and blowing down the street.

The window has never had any problems going up and down, but recently it just wouldn't go up unless I hit a major bump in the road. Saturday it just wouldn't go up at all.

I suppose since it's still all apart and the window is up it's a good time to do some general maintenance and lubrication.

Thanks!

Kurt
