heater fan
so my heater gave out last winter...... actually it seems like it's just that the fan doesn't turn on. The faster I drive the warmer it gets :-). Hot air is coming out of the vents, just not blowing out at all. last winter the fan worked but was touchy. I'd have to slide the control to high a few times before it would kick in. now it doesn't kick in at all.
I traced the cable from the control unit and it seems to be connected fine. Do you all know what I need to replace or how to get into it? |

sounds like the electrical switch on the backside of the heater control is bad. You can check the fan motor itself by taking a piece of wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the male pin sticking out of the fan motor by the passsenger side hood hinge.
If it comes on you have a bad switch.

Yup I ran a cable from the positive post to the blower and it fired right up. When I looked under the Control unit, I saw that the connector or switch at the right side of the control unit looks fried. I can wiggle it and get the blower motor to engage. Where the heck do I get just that piece? Do I have to replace the entire console?

You should be able to get a new switch from just about any board vendor.

The fan switch blows out pretty often. I replaced mine not that long ago. LMC has them and being in Alaska the shipping was more than the part!
