Are those screenshots from this website of the VIN decoders...

Again, clearly at least the inside of the glovebox door has been repainted and over the edges of the SPID. Usually this indicates a much larger repaint.

A little work, I guess !! As we used to say in the car business, "some of the newness has left her".. Be sure nice to see it redone to original.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here is a C20 non-package Highlander that has had some tweaking over the years. Roof lights added, big block replaced with a small block and a sun roof added.

Very nice. Curious if the build sheet is tucked away in the seat springs like some Fremont trucks....

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Uncommon combo of 521 White with 613 Avocado trim.
A YG7, Promo Package "B" optioned C-10 LWB.
Remember this was all the Highlander packaged goodies but not A/C on an AZ delivered truck no less!
They did spring for a 350 and posi though.

Modified some but surely correctable.
It can be yours....

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

that is definitely an interesting way to option a truck. I personally would rather have full gauges or put on the lower moldings before I got a tilt

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Found this in one of my Facebook Group pages. Was owners grandparents truck that they bought new and he inherited it. he dint know anything about Highlanders. A real Short Wheel Base Highlander with a YG8 Package. The seller also says the tailgate band was there when he acquired the truck.

Before this turns into another tailgate band thread, the SPID clearly shows the truck was a code 536 Conventional Two-Tone truck. As such, from the factory, it had a solid Ochre tailgate with White letters.

The truck has been repainted at some point to represent a code 463 Deluxe Two-Tone. Bands are often added by people as was the chromed rear bumper in this case.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here's one that's in my garage now.....1972 C20 Custom Deluxe Custom Camper Highlander. I brought this home last month, it had been sitting in a yard last licensed in 1995. Blue plaid, A/C, 350 cid, tilt and only 25,000 documented miles, same owner since 1979. Unfortunately it sat outside that entire time, but I've seen worse. Planning on going through it and using it for driver. Just thought you guys would like to see it!

Take a breath there Tim, we aren't as up on details as you are. I fugured the band had been added but missed the paint code thing.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

What is wrong with this Highlander? Listen close to what the owner is saying. I didn't know you could get a Factory tonneau cover. A Cheyenne Highlander ,very unique !!!
