brothers vs classic industries

Hey all. Looking to get a bunch of items for my 71. brothers has 15% off $399 or more right now. i seen classic industries has 30% off $139 or more. Quality wise are they the same ? This would be for the chrome grill insert and headlight bezels and some misc. stuff. I would rather have quality over quantity.

Most parts will come from the same manufacturer. Classic industries will have everything in stock. Call brothers before you make the trip to make sure they have it in stock.

Well you only want one of anything anyway, right? What anyone has for sale for these things is split between some things being all from one source, to having quite a few sources. We'd have to know each item to break it down. And some things will be better quality from one and others better from the other. If you want to place one big order with price savings in mind, I guess I'd go with price and hope for the best on overall quality. They are both large enough to have parts produced for them. If you can go to Brothers to touch and feel, that's a consideration. So is shipping... both initially and if you have any quality issues.

Also check out truck and car shop in Orange. You have 3 places within driving distance to shop from. As others have stated I wouldn’t be surprised if all 3 get their parts from the same manufacturer shipping even local is expensive

I've swore never to do business with all three out here at one time or another.

My solution has been to punish them by throwing money at them... so far I've only thrown my arm out!

There is no love for made in Taiwan. Cheap junk these companies sell at high prices. Plus the stuff never fits right.

I am and always have been big on using OEM over aftermarket. Reasons being quality, USA vs overseas made, and just plain prefer the same part made by the same people who made the part I'm replacing and the truck it's bolted too. And I'll admit many reproduction parts aren't worth the materials they wasted making them. But I will never lower myself to making absolute across the board broad statements on anything. I feel it discredits me right then and there. Very little is absolute in the world. In the case of reproduction parts, there are actually many parts that are made just fine that will make it possible for a project to come together. I am sure I could show you many repro parts on a truck and you could not tell me which are and which aren't. Some is junk and we are here to spread the word on that. We also spread the word on what's good. What we don't need to be doing is spreading false info to discredit this place as a valuable resource.

I agree. However, he is talking about grille inserts and bezels. I’ve never had any luck with aftermarket. Especially the grilles.

Sounds like 70sangersean is looking at price also. Problem with Classic Parts and GMC Paul's is that there will be shipping charges and with a grill it would be considered oversize and be dim weighted for shipping even though its not really that heavy. The other 2 are within driving distance saving shipping charges. I can't imagine that there is more than one company out there reproducing grills for our trucks. The cost to set up and manufacture needs to be offset with some volume of sales. Even though it seems like there are millions of these trucks around, how many grill sales (and any other part specific to our trucks) are really being purchased?

I might be wrong, who knows???

- I love NOS parts.

- I like OER and similar USA-made reproduction parts.

- I thankfully tolerate the existence of Chinese knockoff parts, but they're generally useless where they're in the line of sight, but often fill the purpose.

LMC and Brothers and Classic all carry about the same stuff. If each was a Venn diagram, there might be a little bit of exclusive area for each, but MOST of it overlaps.
