Re: OE HID Jeep Wrangler Headlights?

Nice upgrade. Are the instrument cluster LEDs able to be dimmed?

Re: OE HID Jeep Wrangler Headlights?

The LEDs are from Yorkim and run about $10 for 10 bulbs.

https://www.amazon.com/Yorkim-Genera.../dp/B00JRE38EA

The LEDs in the dash will dim but will shut off when attempting to dim them really low. There are still two incandescent light bulbs controlled on circuit by the dimmer switch (gear selector on tilt wheel and 2. bulb in 12V source (cigar lighter) so that additional resistance load may have an impact but I can't say for certain.

To help answer your question, here is a video of my LED dash lights being dimmed.

Hope this helps.

The brightness is good, the dimming is fantastic! I didn’t think LEDs would dim without a rehostat or PWM. Hmm. I wonder how I can make the dimming work in my application? I have a manual, so no gear selector light. I have a light for the cigar lighter but I thought that was on a different circuit.

Re: OE HID Jeep Wrangler Headlights?

I just read the reviews on the yorkim bulbs. Just curious how yours are holding up? Still work properly green monster? Also after a year how are the headlights? I may possibly buy these if yours are still holding up.

Chewy,

I love the headlights. I was skeptical that using LEDs in reflector housings would not blind other drivers. We've all seen it and it is obnoxious and unsafe when the wrong LEDs are used. The diodes need to match the tungsten filament location on the outgoing halogen bulb.

I have not a single complaint about the headlight combination. The biggest benefit is being able to see animals. Eyes on deer and other small animal in my area reflect back with a bright sparkle up to a half-mile away giving me plenty of advance warning.

I have never been flashed by other drivers using these lights. The beam pattern is aimed properly, controlled and not sprayed.

The Yorkim 194s in the dash are still holding up perfectly. No flicker and still dimmable.

Re: OE HID Jeep Wrangler Headlights?

I agree $400 for Jeep Wrangler headlights is a bit much and they really don't look that great in the photoshopped image in post № 1 IMO.

The classic look of glass Hella housings with H4 replaceable bulb upgraded with H4 LEDs and wire harness for $190 was a better option for me.

It took a little more effort to create this combination but the outcome was exactly what I wanted; unmodified appearance and improved lighting without blinding oncoming drivers.

Re: OE HID Jeep Wrangler Headlights?

I installed the H4 LEDs without filters and they looked perfect to me- WHITE with an ever so slight hint of blue.

I didn't play around with the filters but the yellow filter would probably tone them down for a more traditional look and the blue would probably look appropriate in an import sport sedan.

Ok it didn't look like you used the filters. Thanks for the feedback.
