That is exactly how I feel on the seat - High Centered. I am 6 ft too. Did you replace your foams with PUI? Do the new brackets cause you to recline more or just lower sitting?

I just feel like I am lower in the seat.. My foam was the original on the donor seat I had reupholstered - because it was still in very good shape.. I don't believe any of that was changed.

Re: First Drive this AM since Crate! Also foams too tall/firm!

Looking at the brackets, they seem pretty easy to make. However for the time and headaches maybe $100 is worth it. I just fear that 2 inches is not enough and will still need to cut my foams.

Does the threads on the bendable fuel line fit the Edelbrock 8126 threads or are there adapters needed?
The steel lines will use inverted flare fittings. The carb will have a different style of threads. I am not familiar with your carb but I believe that it has the banjo style inlet and the adapter has a female #6 AN fitting so and adapter will be be needed to be male (#6 if my memory serves or was it #4?????) to 3/8" female inverted flare.
The adapter will look something like this.

Re: First Drive this AM since Crate! Also foams too tall/firm!

I will post these pics on both threads to hopefully help. In one pic, (the best I have) you can see the top of my seat right to the real window rubber - and with brackets installed, the amount the seat has dropped overall. I'm afraid I forgot this morning to measure clearance under the seat for sub-woofer installation, but still can.

Nice truck. I have that same seat cover in my truck (don't see too many of them). These trucks must be made for a 5'10" driver because the PUI seat foam is just right for me.

I have been happy with the seat cover and love the look. It is the same cover that my truck came with originally except it was in blue. Probably don't see many of them because they are expensive. I think I paid $450ish. I bought mine from Carsinc. The thought of putting more money into this bench after buying new foams, rebuilding the springs, painting the frame and a $400+ seat cover doesn't sound appealing. Gonna be an expensive bench by the time I'm through!

But really, isn't your butt worth it? I say the more padding the better so drop that seat.

Re: First Drive this AM since Crate! Also foams too tall/firm!

Ok, so I have made a couple decisions.
1. Today I ordered the lowered brackets for my bench. I figure for $99 I will save a lot of time and probably money either cutting down foams or making my own brackets. I got a call from the company soon after I ordered and they said they are shipping tomorrow from TX to AZ. I'll post a lot of photos once I get em.

2. The fuel line (eliminate fire hazard)- I really think I need a fuel filter between the pump and the carb. For ease and looks I will probably order the Edelbrock 8131 with the fuel filter built in and the Edelbrock Braided fuel line kit or the Jegs braided fuel line kit and then I think will need an adapter from the line to my stock mechanical fuel pump from 6an to 3/8.

3. Just a side note - I have a 12 bolt rearend with 3.07 gearing. I just installed my 350/290 Gen 0 crate engine with carter 4 barrel carb, dual headers, flowmaster exhaust, and a TH350 transmission. Everything I read said that the stock engine and the 3.07 gearing would be slow at the lights but good on the freeway. I don't understand why some have said that. When I just took my truck out yesterday I was pleasantly surprised how fast the truck is and how easy I could do a burnout. In fact while I was giving it a little push it chirped the tires shifting on the highway. Really looking forward to driving this truck. Definitely faster than my Silverado. And of course my 70 will never be used for towing or carrying much in the bed.

Re: First Drive this AM since Crate! Also foams too tall/firm!

I did the exact same thing with the fuel line as well. Very happy with it.. Also same gearing with my 327 and it is pretty peppy as well...

Wow that is a clean looking engine. Did you use Edelbrock braided line or another brand? As I've look at the edelbrock braided lines it looks like they have a few different styles. Wondering if one is better than the other or if an adapter fitting would not be needed to attach to my fuel pump. Some of their lines are made to fit their fuel pumps.

Re: First Drive this AM since Crate! Also foams too tall/firm!

It was Edelbrock - actually replaced it all including the fuel pump with an Edelbrock to eliminate the flooding issue I was having.. No sure about the quality of others. Had to get the AN fitting to adapt from the fuel pump pipe thread to the correct thread and connection to the fuel line.

Do you still have the band of blue tint at the top of the window? I was too tall and had to switch to one without...

Re: First Drive this AM since Crate! Also foams too tall/firm!

So I ordered the lowering brackets. Came very quickly and were shipped the day after I ordered them. Packaging was good. They look really nice and come with instructions. I think they will make a big difference. I quickly bolted them on the bench and placed it back in my cab to see the spacing. Only a slight concern is the steel looks a little thin but once it is all bolted down I'm sure it will feel more stable.

What I plan on doing is daily drive it for a couple months and then see if the foams have softened or if I need to cut an inch or so off the bottom/back of the foams.
