steering quickener

I am considering putting a steering quickener on my 53 3100. I have stock steering box and electric P/S. They seem to come in 1.5 to 1 and 2 to 1. any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

it's an inline gear in your steering system so you don't have to turn your steering wheel so many times. I figure with power steering I don't need so much reduction.

Re: steering quickener

Have you driven the truck far enough and enough to determine that you need to speed the ratio up to be comfortable driving it?

Some electric power steering units are said to be a bit twitchy and that would increase that where it may not be near as noticeable with the stock ratio.

The one I have out here out of a Chevy Equinox is said to be that way.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

I've put a couple of hundred thousand miles on it. I'm not home but am I correct that lock to lock on my 53 stock steering box is about 5.5 turns? If I go with the 1.5 to one reduction that puts me at 3.66 turns lock to lock. That's about what my F250 is I believe.
