Thanks, soon I am going to have the girls start helping, especially when it comes to wet sanding and putting it back together.
Good to see you got on the board.

I am currently working on the passenger side door. I sand blasted it down to bare metal last night and then patched a piece of metal on the bottom where it was really thin. Ill try to post some pictures. It was actually a truck door that i cut down to make a blazer door. Darn it though I did not notice the blazer doors had an extra part around the latch and threw the old one away.
I guess I will have to find one down the road.

This door is rust free and almost dent free. I did have to weld up some holes where several other types of mirrors were mounted. I know it is a lot of bondo but most of it will be sanded off.

Good to have a sand blaster to get inside the parts like this (last pic)

Not doing much work on the Jimmy but it is snowing here! Sorry for the guys up North, probably not as big a deal, but around here it is not as common. In fact in just a couple of days it will be back up to the 60s

Kinda weird, this is at 900 at night, it should be very dark but it looks like day time.

Snow in Texas? I would think it's about as rare common as snow in Western Washington. Fun to go play in tho!!!

Not much still going on with the truck, but I did start back on the door. I think this is the last of the bondo I will have to put on it. And I cleaned up the side mirrors. The PO decided to camo these along with the rest of the truck. Not show quality but good for a driver. I also picked out some of the best crome vent windows I have and cleaned them up as well. Still have to install the new rubbers. On to the pics.

I painted the door jams and inside with the Harbor freight special HVLP Spray gun but it spit and sputtered as I did. Then I went to the pawn shop, and look what I found. Score! Sharpe Razor 1.4 tip HVLP. Much more smooth and better flow. Great gun. Now its time to block and prime, block and prime, and on and on.

I ordered the seals gloves and other items on line from a Made in the USA company, and the walls are made from 14 ga metal. Probably a bit of overkill but if i was going to do that much work I figure I want it to last.

Thanks Jonesky2. I do not have any plans for it, I just kind of made it up as I went. I could post some things I would have done differently though and mabe some details on the sizes of the items. It is 3 1/2 feet wide, so I should have just made it 4 feet and not waste the half a foot of metal.

all the details you are willing to give would be sweet. I would much rather build one myself than buy one!

I have not posted in a little while. I have been busy doing other things, but have recently started again. I took off the whole front clip so I could fix some rust issues on the radiator support below the battery. I was going to order the part but just made it instead.

I also ordered a battery box, just the bottom part, as you can see the old one was rusted a bit.

I also ordered in a door skin. It was a triplus?, and the quality was very good in my opinion. However they sent me two, I guess just in case i messed up the first one?
Anyway. cut off the old skin, blasted the old interior of the door and then primed and painted the inside. I then fit the new skin seam sealed it and then tapped the edges to a crimp. time consuming but easy fix over all..

I have also been putting the blast cabinet to good use, and blasted every part i could think of that i wanted black, that i had off of the truck at the time, then primed and painted them all at once.
