72 K5 Blazer Build

Well here goes nothing I'm starting my first build thread. I recently picked it up 1972 K5 4x4. It has a bit of rust starting to build up on it and is in some need of loving. I had a body guy take a look at it and after hearing the quote i decided that i am going to tackle it all myself. I figure if in the end its not perfect ill be ok with it and the fact that i did it all will surely make up for it. So ill start with some pictures of the day i brought her home!! Please all input and opinions is welcome!

Little bump

Hickey Sidewinder!!!

Re: 72 K5 Blazer Build

Minor update. Ive been pretty busy but i did continue on tearing it down. I removed the grill, bumper, hood, cowl, fenders and inner tubs. I cant decide if i want to get the frame ready for or start on the body rust. Here are some pics.

No more running boards!

Re: 72 K5 Blazer Build

Its been awhile since i have updated this. Been pretty busy but with winter coming i will have a lot more time to spend in the shop! I did end up getting the rest of the tub stripped down and just before we were going to pull the body i decided to build a rotisserie first. But now thats done so its time to get this tub off and start getting some work down. Here are my pics of where im at now. I have some friends coming over this weekend and were gonna finish pulling the body off.

Finishing pulling the motor/tranny

Motors out

Added some body braces

Rotisserie is done!

Ill be sure to add some more ones the tub is off the frame!!

Re: 72 K5 Blazer Build

Got the Tub pulled of and sitting on the rottesserie and everything works great! Used the mini excavator to lift and make it a very easy job. Here are some pictures!

Rear all hooked up

Then used the mini to lift the front

Spins easy!

Re: 72 K5 Blazer Build

What is the chance you have plans for that rotisserie? I'm about to do the same with my 71, if not I will just copy your pics, with your approval of course.
