What years for this radio - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I just recently parted out a '68 LWB, the cab and box were pretty much trashed.
But the truck was complete and the interior pretty original.
My question is, I took the AM radio and power lead, my 70 has the DIN size hole cut, so I was thinking of selling this one. Are these hard to come by. worth anything? What years would it be correct for?

I think those radios are going for around $15-40. I have a few. My general thoughts are if the radio hole has been cut then use a din radio but if it has not been cut don't do it. I'm 34 now and I actually listen to the AM radio, talk shows weather and such. Many times I find the origianl AM radio's recption is better than the ones of aftermarket CD players because I don't the manufactures think we will ever use the AM radio, just play CD's and listen to the FM. I live in OK and had an original 83'scottsdale with the AM and I got radio stations in IOWA. I remember flipping out because of this big snow storm they were talking about coming here... then it was that's the Iowa forecast. Kind of funny. Probably good to put in a newer speaker.

67-72 are the years they'll forsure fit. I think 66 and back have wider spacing between the knobs, they might fit a 73 and up but I think the knobs are too different and would probably not look right. Also they can be converted to FM if you want to pay about $300 I think.

I was thinking more along the lines of putting it on ebay.
I don't think it could compete with my Alpine deck when it comes to playing my iPod.

I have actually looked at 73-87 radios and the knobs are to close together to fit into our trucks and i think the face is just a little thinner. By the way welcome to the board from Iowa also.

Did I understand you correctly, a '67 stock AM radio can be converted into a FM radio? If so where can I send one of mine out to have this done?

I've seen this FM conversion in a classic truck magazine and have seen people talk of it on this site. I think the only way I would do it is if my truck was very originial. I know there's several options too. You might look in the back of some truck magazine, classic truck, custom classic truck etc or search the web or post something here.

check out http://customautosound.com/ if your lookin for a radio that will fit in the stock dash. they sound real good and look good. i've got their usa-5 for my 71. it sounds real good.
