Are you thinking axle bearing? best bet replace all bearings pinion , carrier & axle or do these carriers problematic?

If its just a axle bearing, Replace that bearing....Got to remove the axle to know for sure. The bearing going bad also damages the axle, Repair bearings are junk...Have the axle welded & machined or buy a new axle.

With 225 K on the Ole Gal I guess it was time for an overhaul. The inner pinion bearing was probably the main culprit. There was also pitting on the carrier bearings also. I went ahead and replaced all bearings and seals. I cracked one of the shims for the carrier,are they difficult to find ?
