Do those bolt patterns allow for easy switching to normal tubeless rims? Or is it some weirdo never used bolt pattern?

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread

The 292-6 was still somewhat used back then.

They are really good engines.

Especially with some gearing. Looks like that truck is a 4 & 2.

oh i know . my dad had a old pepsi delivery c-60 truck he cut down to make a home made wrecker with and that straight 6 1-barrel would pull like a freight train . i remember as a kid pulling 2-3ft dia locus tree stumps out on high idle and she just would not chug down . . . pull and pull .

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread

The 292 gets it's torque about 1,000 rpm lower than the 283. This is all due to cylinder charging. The little monojet 1 barrell has a very high intake velocity at low rpm. Low rpm cylinder charging is what makes it torqey. The same is true for the GMC V-6. Tiny little carb on a 305--351---401--478
The Quadrajet is an attempt to get the torque with small primaries and still have lots of high rpm with the huge secondaries. Same idea for the Thermoquad. They also made V-8 manifolds with individual runners for the primaries seperate from the secondary runner.
It is all about intake port velocity.
I have a 317 lincoln engine that came stock in a F-900 Marmon Herrington. I found a super deal on a 4 bbl manifold but, I think that it would kill the low-end torque.
It's a trade-off between low-end and high-end torque.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread

My 292 was impressive in my '64-30, but one day I was along side a newer 1-Ton with a 350 in it and I passed him. It was up a steep hill and I was carrying a full cord of firewood. He was empty.

The rare 4000 with Wide Fenders. Although if all original, it looks like a '64 or '65.

If it will start and run, it would be well worth the price.

Nice '70 7500. Has a 478M V-6. Looks like a 5 and 2-Speed Rear. I had Seats like those in my '71 9500. Nice looking truck. Wish it had more pictures.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread

Yes, dual wheels were an option on the one ton panels since the 1920's, and ended early/mid 50's?. And the series prior to this, 41-46, a 1.5 ton was available in a panel truck, also in dually form and 4wheel drive in military version.

Looks like a good solid truck.

Although they got the year wrong.

It's actually 2 years newer. It's a '64.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread

Real nice truck and it's right near me too, lol.

If I was in need for Dump that size, I'd be jumping on it.

Interesting that it's just a C-50, but has Spoke Wheels yet.

Whoever buys it will have many years of great service.

Looks very restore-able. These are cool buses and easy to drive. It doesn't say, but should be a 6-71 Detroit.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread

Two-fur special! $1900.

https://portland.craigslist.org/yam/...757616760.html

We have a 1968 & 1970 C50 truck project that needs someone to finish it as we don't have time right now to do it. Combine these 2 together and you will have a nice vintage farm truck or you can even make a stunning 4 door vacation or hauling rig out of it (see example photo).
The red 1968 has a 1977 chevy 350 engine with a 4spd transmission with a 2 spd rear end. The tires are in very good condition with 900 X 20 on the rear and 8.25 X 20 on the front. The engine ran when we started this project 2 years ago. It also has power steering, side tanks and a seat tank. It does have rust and we have already fixed some of that. Much of the work on the fenders is already done and the hood is good except for 1 small dent on the corner. The heater box has been repaired so it works easily. Door panels, frame, and mirrors are already painted and ready to install. Glass is good. Both trucks GVW rating is 19500. We have some LMC parts that we ordered for this project that includes windshield weather stripping, door weather stripping, temp control lever and knob, heater seal kit and a filler neck grommet. We also have a Truck Chassis Service Manual for each truck for their respective year.
The gold 1970 has a great engine (starts first time) which could be a 366?? It also has a 4spd transmission with a 2 spd rear end. It has a 16' long steel diamond plate bed with a 2 ram hoist which works good. The bed has been painted. It also has stake pockets in case you want side racks. This one does not have power steering. The tires on this truck are fairly well worn. I believe the glass is good in this truck too. We have used this truck to haul dirt but the brakes will need some attention before you would want to go too far with it. This one has more rust areas on it than the 1968 so we have the good parts of it to repair the red truck, as you can see by the hole in the front right fender.
We have one truck in Newberg and the other in Amity. They would need to be hauled as they are not road ready. Take everything we have for them both for $1900.00.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread

Looks to be a nice 51 $4000.

https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/...744143000.html

Currently not working because the motor just threw a rod on me, but I have another running 235 in hand and ready to go in, just don't have the time or muscle/equipment to currently do it. For me the truck is worth $7000 if I had the engine in it and running, so as-is I'm asking $4000 given the other upgrades included (listed below). The relatively newer dump body alone is worth that. Bed is fully functional, hydraulics/PTO good.

Brand new tires put on over the summer and it blew up on way home with em, so they have about 10 miles on em!

Other new upgrades this summer include:
Converted from single to dual carb with two brand new Willy's carbs on Offenhauser intake and Fenton headers
New dual exhaust pipes from Exhaust Shop & Tire Center in Longview
Head valve job with new bushings
New gaskets

The replacement engine and transmission in hand is a later 50s model 235 out of a running Apache (upgraded to V8/turbo 400).

Brakes worked great at time of use this summer. Come take a look!

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread

WOW! 1931 1 1/2 ton truck. $5500. Be the only one on your block with one.

https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/...743042005.html

Selling a 1931 Chevy 1 1/2 Ton dually truck.

All is original:
- 131" wheel base
- Straight six engine (194 cubic inches)
- Original rims
- Original axels
- Original cab and fenders/ running boards
- Original mechanical brakes run to all 4 wheels
- Original gauges
- Original headlights
- Still has wood paneling on the inside!!

- Not running at (slowly getting the motor to turn over by hand)
- Truck does roll
- No bed, gas tank, or tail lights

- Took it to the MVD to get a bonded title because the original title was lost some years ago in my family. The MVD told me I would have to put a bed and tail lights on it in order to get the bonded title. Needless to say they have never seen a truck this old, but I figured no one will keep a cheap bed and tail lights that I throw on there just to get a bonded title. I can get a dismantled title if you would prefer... other wise a bill of sale is how it will most likely be sold. This will be a great restore project or use for original parts and pieces!!!
