install bed or cab

does it make any difference to install bed before cab in total restoration?

Re: install bed or cab

My truck is going back together now. We've put the cab on first as it's easier to shim the bed to match the cab body lines instead of the other way around. My truck is a '71 Cheyenne Super with the full upper and lower trim so we are using the cab trim to align the bed trim.

My 2 cents worth...

Re: install bed or cab

Sometimes the cab needs to be shimmed to match the bed lines.

Re: install bed or cab

I do cab first but leave the mounts not fully tight.

Then front fenders and radiator support.

Then bed....

Just my preference...
