Need a SPDT brake switch

I'm looking for a brake switch to fit to a squarebody pedal. It needs to send 12v to the body control module when not applied, and send 12v to the engine control module and brake light circuit when the brakes are applied.

A single-pole double-throw switch with a threaded body would be perfect for my application. A google search didn't yield much. Does anyone know of a simple factory-type switch that would accomplish what I want?

Re: Need a SPDT brake switch

I believe you want a brake light switch for cruise control.

The switch for a vehicle with a lock-up converter would also work. It opens on the converter-enable side when you apply the brakes.

Re: Need a SPDT brake switch

rpmerf and steeveedee, thanks a lot! It never occurred to me that my truck may have been optioned with a switch like that from the factory. That definitely simplifies the task.

Now, to find some way to mount a 2010 Camaro clutch pedal sensor to my clutch pedal...

Re: Need a SPDT brake switch

Cruise control needs to release when you press in the clutch. I see a cruise control release switch on rock auto. I would think this would be mounted on the clutch pedal.

There is also a clutch safety switch, but it looks different, so I am not sure how it mounts.

I'm using a hybrid between a 2010 Tahoe and a 2010 Camaro computer system. The Camaro is expecting a three-wire hall-effect sensor for the clutch. This will be used for cruise cancel within the ECM, and I think there's several coast-down tables specifically related to a depressed clutch pedal. Since I'm not intending to crank the engine through the BCM and ECM, The ECM will not prevent me from cranking without pressing the clutch. For that, I'll have to retain a stock '87 clutch switch.

Re: Need a SPDT brake switch

the clutch switch you're talking about isn't a hall effect, it's actually a voltage divider and it's very similar to the brake pedal position sensor

The 2010 Camaro uses the same part number for the clutch switch and the brake switch. Both of them are three wire switches. The ECM wants to see the clutch switch, and the BCM wants the brake switch. Both switches have a 5-volt wire, a ground wire, and a signal wire. The signal varies from 5-volts to ground depending on the position of the switch. I don't know if it will vary all the way from 0-5v, though.

What's the chance I can swap these out for SPDT switches? If all I'm worried about is off-vs-on for cruise cancel and deceleration-fuel-cutoff, this should be sufficient. Right or no?

I've got a Camaro switch in hand. I just don't have small enough alligator clips to get a good hold on the thing. I have an idea for testing it, but it's pretty ghetto. I was just hoping maybe you've been down the same road, and can advise on swapping for a simpler switch.
