Looks great Dustin! Lots of progress since I talked to you last! Have you made any progress on the motor yet?

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

1969C/10,No motor work yet, supposed to get a whole different motor but I dont have it yet.Have alot of parts waiting for it though.
Arkracing,I didnt even look at the t case today.Spent the day cleaning up a major tranny leak mess spanning about 15x20 feet of the shop floor.I will look tomorrow and see if it is.
Msgross, scroll back to the first or second page to see pics of the frame before I blasted it,it was pretty bad.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

true, it was pretty rusty... Mine had been undercoated back in the day so I get to fight with that...What product did you say you blasted with? I have heard that basic play sand from Lowes is a cheap route to go, I plan on doing it outside like you did and not recovering any media...

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

I dont remember what kind it was.I have had it a few years sitting in the back of the shop.I think I threw the bag away when I put the sand in buckets because the bag ripped and was spilling it out.I will look and see if I still have a bag left.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Ok,arkracing...Nothing was welded on the shift rails on my np205.Everything was riveted together by the looks of it

OK...I managed to get the rear axle out and painted. The u bolts were stubborn so I decided to cut them off and managed to burn myself thanks to some slagI then cleaned and painted the rear axle.It is drying now and as soon as I get whats left of the rear springs off the new ones can go on it.
When I removed the rear axle the passenger side springs came in 2!I did know they needed replacing but the set of springs splitting in two is bad.
Will not have anymore pics except the crappy ones I take in the shop till this weekend most likely because my time off has came to an end. Will still get work done on this though

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Looked and inspected my axles to find new gears in the rear and 3 broken teeth on the frontI guess I will be out lookin for a truck to bring home w/ good gears(save the truck for fun later) or buy a new set.I am not gonna worry much about it now.Just something to adress before Im done. Will probably change it while its getting painted.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

I pulled the rotors and all the related stuff off the front axle of the swb 4x4 to find the axle had been rebuilt and had new brakes.Still needs a new ring gear though.Looks good other then the gear.I have a few wheel studs to replace though. The lift kit turned out to supposively be the right one. They said it will go down alot with the body on it so Im gonna put the bed on and maybe the cab this weekend and see what happens.Should have the rebuilt tranny back by Saturday too.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Lockouts will be in sometime next week...Spent the evening tearing the front axle all apart. Its a bare axle housing now.I cleaned all the internals and threw away the old 3:73s in the front. The ball joints are bad in the knuckles so they will have to be replaced on one side.Waiting on a few seals, lockouts and the new ring gear and the axle will be done.Hoping to test fit the body on frame this weekend to let the spings settle in abit.Stay tuned!
