this is just the fuse relay box it's aftermarket. We are still using the factory wiring harness though. Make sense?

yep, been thinking about taking the glass style out, and using the add'l circuits on the SA-1000 to handle radio, cig lighter, tail/head lights, blinkers, dash gauges, dome light, and ... i mean, what else is there really? ignition, wipers, wiper motor .... in all honesty, there is so very little, it's just a matter of tracing wires to the bulkhead, tapping them into the SA-1000, then running the outbound circuit properly. sounds simple in theory, but i'm probably grossly oversimplifying (hence why i haven't worked on it in forever.

i just got screwed though, AutoMeter is seriously slacking, my gas and speed gauges have been backordered everywhere for damn near 7 weeks now. i'm going nuts, Jegs pushed it back till end of this month, like they've done four other times (so has Summit and every other place, so i know it's not their fault)

Shifty, not to get in your knickers, but.... you might as well replace all the wiring. By the time you do what your talking about, it wouldn't take that much more to finish the job. With the time and effort that you've put into your truck, I would hate to see it catch fire do to some 40 year old wiring. Just my .02.

no, thats way too mcuh work, and also the sa-1000 does'nt have near enought circuits to support the interior.... things your forgetting about is the steering column ( turn signals, ignition switch, temp controls, all the guages, radio, front lights, rear lights, etc.... the sa-1000 doesnt nearly have enough circuits..

Ah, you are correct about that ... only 6 ING and 2 BATT circuits :\ But in the instructions of the SA-1000 it says you can create as many circuits as it will house fuses (I think it is either 16, 25 or ??? would need to look at instructions again)

maybe this is the time I need to start thinking about getting one of those 'hot rod' kits like the Highway 15 or Highway 22 that AAW sells (member Musclerodz sells them)

Rob - my wiring is actually in pretty damned good shape, amazingly. but i am pretty adamant about ditching the stock harness, still. I think the only part I'll use is the headlight portion of the stock harness, and that will be running off relays.

i like the idea of mounting the SA-1000 kit on the rad support, then using a harness inside for the other stuff. Dunno what I'll do at this point.

made a little headway today... got the cab stripped down, took out the wiring, glovebox and door, a/c controls, a/c ducting and air defusers, guage panel.. all in preperation for the cab to come off the frame... also locaed and drilled a few holes for the engine and trans. computer moduals.. PS i tried to get the most cluttered pic of the inside of the cab, just so killer71 will have a good night sleep all that stuff is neatly stacked inside the garage now... also most the interior stuff ( auto/ tilt steering column, brand new (looking)wiring,etc... ) will be replaced, so ask killer71 if you need something. he just might sell it to ya, and EVERYTHING is in great shape..

pullin a all nighter again.. i finally recieved the ECM pins to re-pin the computer, so i needed the engine in the truck to see how far back to make the connections to the computer...the only snafu i ran into was the the stock trailblazer P/S pump resovoir hits the frame, so what the plan is, is to switch to a truck style resovoir... other then that everything fits in there nicely...

the performance upgrades so far are
- long tube headers
- cold air intake
- custom puter tune ( gonna get it dyno tuned, for the optimum performance)

Killer it is looking good man. I have my 5.3 with trans sitting in the garage. Picked it up a couple of weeks ago. I think I will drive my truck this year and then tear it back down again next year for the motor swap.

finally getting some work done... got the trans cleaned and painted, this is the final piece i needed to get done to complete the wiring harness.. when its completely dry i'll mate the engine and trans back together and make the harness.... then the drivetrain (minus the driveshaft) will be complete...the frame will get attention next..

OK, spill the beans, what did you paint that transmission with? Did you sand it down before the paint? You can barely see any of the aluminum texture. It looks great!

the paint is the same as the engine HIGH TEMP ALUMINUM ENGINE PAINT... yes i sanded it down then scotch brighted it, to get that smooth look..altho nobody will see it..we'll all know it looks good
