My son Jon wants to learn to do what I do.... I think this is the best way to help him and others learn. Taking many pictures and actually seeing how it's done is the only way to learn. I wish I had this opportunity when I was growing up. But I learned the hard way... as I went. This and other restos I have done are my way of keeping busy and out of trouble !!

Enjoy, Steve

Yes it has been alot, but worth every minute of it.... A keeper/driver is what we are striving for, but you never know.

Yes I do autobody collision repair for a living. I have been working on cars (mostly body and paint) since I was 15. 46 now and trying to teach my youngest son how to do it. My Grandfather always told me to do it well, and always strive to get better. I strongly beleive that doing restoration work has made me get better at collision repair.
Pay close attention to your instructors and always volunteer in class. It's better to do it than just watch. Another good piece of advice is to never look at the huge project in front of you. Take it one step at a time. Each thing you do is a step in the direction of the final project.

Thanks and good luck. Steve

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration

Good work. That cowl repair looks all too familiar to my Jezebel project. I think the way you repaired yours would have made mine move a little quicker. Keep up the good work. Subscribed and learning...

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration

Jon and I are working on the drivers door this week. We are installing the inner and outer lower sheet metal. The right side got done a few months ago. Lots of measuring and trimming. Pics to follow.

We did have some minor rust mostly in the corners. But Jon (my son and the owner of this truck) sandblasted the rust and we treated it with rust-mort. Suprisingly there was no rust through at the top inside of the roof and windshield area..that is the reason that we restored this cab instead of locating another one. Next up is the hood and bedsides..
