Oil pressure Sender Unit operation

I watched an informational video on oil pressure sender unit operation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2igtCvCNwA

The gentle in the video says the its from a 94 GM product...

My next question is the following,
is the operation of the oil pressure sender unit the same as in the video as it is for the 2005 silverado ls 6.0 engine?

Furthermore, does this switch operator as a shut off as well?

If the operation is the same, then I'm going to splice in the idiot light on the dash to the center post wire.

THank you,

double

No, they are not the same. Also, the oil pressure sender doesnt work as a shut off at all, it is just a redundant secondary way of turning on the fuel pump in case the fuel pump relay goes bad.

Okay I got ya, I would assume people would put a shut off pressure switch inline with the sender to be used as a kill switch?
