Help with LED installation into parking lights

So, I have read almost every post dealing with LEDs on here. I bought some 1156 leds for my front park/signal lights. Installed them along with a EL12 flasher, and of course, they would flash when the signal light was triggered. But, they would not flash with parking lights turned on. I even tried putting a load resistor in and still the same thing. What am I missing here???

The bulbs you are talking about are not in my opinion worth the money are the trouble they will cause in the truck. I tried everything several years ago and nothing worked. I gave up and bought panel LED for the truck.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Wink Re: Help with LED installation into parking lights

My guess would be this. The wires are reverse for the functions you want. They probably have a resistor in them so they have a bright side and a dime side. Since it is backwards of your system you get a blink on the dim side when the park light is off, but when you turn the park light on you have full voltage making them constant bright. Therefore you see no blink. Now the only way to know for a fact is flip your wires around but that probably requires cutting them and in my .02 not worth the trouble caus they are not very good or bright any how. The dim side should be constant on with park. Then when you hit turn you get full voltage and the light gets brighter causing a noticeable blink.

Hmm, yeah, I really don't want to switch wires around. I could have sworn that someone had made this work somehow! Thanks for the responses! Keep them coming!!!!

Re: Help with LED installation into parking lights

Well the thing is gm did not wire every truck exactly the same. I get this with tail light installs. Some work great. Some have to swap their wires. I guess they figured it did not matter since a bulb will work the same no matter how you turn it. Leds are not like that. One wire is park one is turn and it gets ground from the housing. If you have 3 wires and alligator clips you could at least check with out cutting....

Re: Help with LED installation into parking lights

if its an 1156 bulb the pins are the same height you can just flip the bulb in the socket but aren't 1156 only 1 filament bulbs anyway they wouldn't have a bright and dim

I think they are 1157 bulbs. Sorry, but the pins aren't the same height.

Thumbs up Re: Help with LED installation into parking lights

Good luck with it.

As I stated in my first post I never could get them to work like they advertised. Just a big head ache and time consuming.
I also swapped wires and fixed wires and changed fittings. You name it I did it!
Keep at it though and maybe you will discover what the right combo is to get them working.

Can you post a link for the flasher or part number?

Re: Help with LED installation into parking lights

So how do they look in comparison to the original? Do you see a major difference and what is the total out of pocket on your project?
I was looking at replacing mine with the LEDs not just the bulbs. Do you have any before and after pics?

I have only done one side. I will do a comparison in a day or so.

Re: Help with LED installation into parking lights

Sure, here is an amazon link from where I bought it. Only thing is that once the blinker switch goes back to the neutral position, I still hear the blinker click a couple more times. The lights don't blink, but it makes the sound

Re: Help with LED installation into parking lights

Here is difference between regular bulbs and leds...

Here is both leds installed...

This is with the parking lights turned on and the signal light blinking

Here it is with only the signal light flashing and parking lights turned off

Only thing that I wished is that when the parking lights turned on and the signal light on as well, that the light "flashes" more.
