Jeep Door checks/stops questions...

Needing to get door checks for my 66 build...I want to use the Jeep checks with the detents. Everyone used to go to the junkyard and try to find them etc, but i now see them listed on ebay as repops im sure....Has anyone used these repopped ones...says they are for the 87-2001 Cherokee's front doors.. Thoughts?

Re: Jeep Door checks/stops questions...

I was able to find a pair in a you pull it type yard, so I have no experience with the aftermarket versions.

I do highly recommend using them though. I trimmed the rubber bump stop into thirds so that the door would open further. Haven't had any issues with them at all.
It's so nice not having the door close on the back of my legs

Ordered mine off ebay quite awhile back. No issues with them. Fit and work like I was hoping they would. Mine are gold colored and were 35 for the pair, don't know if they were originals or not.

Re: Jeep Door checks/stops questions...

I bought new ones for mine when I did it and If I recall I split the rubber in half so the door would open more. I bought them from a big aftermarket parts company on line so probably repops but quality was good. I used Lugnutz tutorial below:

I second the idea of taking the rubber and cutting it in half. The door will open up about 8" further than if you don't, which is a bid deal.

One thing I'll add is that on one of my trips through the wrecking yard I noticed that many other modern cars use a similar style door strap, some may be better. It would just take a bit of sleuthing to find one the right length.
