What 35-36" tires do you run?

I am going to buy a new set of tires soon. What are your recommendations? I am thinking of getting 35's. I don't do a whole lot of offroading, but want some traction and good wear. Anyone?

I really like my Super Swamper SSR's but I bet the Goodyear MTR's would wear alot better and I have read good things about their abilities offroad.

I have had good luck with BFGs I ran almost 60K on my All Terrains and still had meat left (sold the truck) The 35" Muds on my truck have 70K on them but they are barely street legal, still do have tread...

Anyone have an opinion on Pro Comp tires? 4wheelparts is having a sale on them right now. I could all 4 mud terrains for $540. (35's) Wear is a big factor for me, since I plan to drive the truck everyday. I was thinking BF Goodrich tires would wear pretty well. Thanks for the help so far

They are pretty pricey but lots of guys are talking up PJ's. I have been running Swampers for several years. One thing I like about the Swampers is they dont pick up rocks and throw them. If they do its gonna be a big one.

I will run nothing but BFGs anymore, but I would at least give consideration to the ProComps. I have had great luck with my 35 12.5 BFG Mt's. Definitely stayaway from any bias or bias-belted tires for road use. Your best bet will be an all terrain tire unless you spend at least half of your time off road.

My personal experience is the Swampers are too loud and aggressive for road use, and the Goodyears have lots of tread squirm and wear rapidly. Ground Hawgs are loud and near impossible to balance. The Mickey Thompson Baja Belteds balanced easy and had reasonable tread life, but were loud and tended to cup, but not as bad as the 'Hawgs. Like most things, "Your mileage may differ..." I have no experience with the Swamper radials or Mickey T radials, but the price has kept me away. I haggled the local NTB down to $125 apiece for my BFG's. 4 wheel parts was having a by three get one free sale, but not sure if it applied to the BFG or just the ProComps. They had Weld Super Single IIs for by 3 get 1 free also. Man THAT was hard to say no to...

Just shod mine with BFG AT/KOs, 35 x 12.50 x 16.5. Like you, I was looking for good street wear, so I opted for the ATs over the MTs. The ATs are quieter and ride better on the highway than the wore-out BFG MTs I had replaced. Got mine at CostCo for $702 mounted & balanced, lifetime road hazard warranty and free rotation. None of the local tire shops in town could touch CostCo's price, including warranty. If you have CostCo in your area, check them out.

$540 for the ProComps sounds like a real good deal, better than I found when I was shopping. If you're buying mail order or Internet, don't forget you have to pay for shipping, mounting & balancing. Those costs tend to sour a deal.

So far, I'm really happy with my Super Swamper SSR radials. I've only put about 6k miles on them but they do not show any signs of wear. They still look brand new. So far, I have only ran them on the street. Mine were about $240 each, not sure if your looking to spend that kind of money.

Yeah, I too was wondering how the pro comps are. I love the look of the x-terrains, looks like all the traction I'll need for the local trails around here. Anyone have any experience with these? Also like the MT/R's and am torn between the two. I like BFG's long wear but they just look wussy and the AT has no chance in the mud.

I'm running the Pro-Comp X-Terrains (35s) and I really like them. They balanced better than any 35 I've ever had and they aren't too loud. I've only got about 4k on them but they appear to be wearing fine.

I run BFG 35" on all my K20s and I'm happy. I used to run 38" Gumbo Mudders and I think they are all square. Never could balance those turds...lol

I have the Super Swampers TSL's on my 78. They are not radials, and I really don't like em. I do too much street driving to have them. They were on the truck when I bought them. The 82 I just bought has some TSL radials on it, but one is shot. I figure I would just replace all 4 tires. 3 of them seem to be fine, but the front right one is bald. I want a good riding tire (as much as possible) I like the look of the mud terrain better than an all terrain. Thanks for the help so far

Saw an ad in 4Wheel & Offroad for Nitto Tires' Terra Grappler. Interesting tread pattern, looks fairly agressive, but also looks like it would be well-behaved on the highway. See:
