blazer convert top

i'm thinkin about buying a 73 and up blazer just cause they're even cheaper around here...and i can also build a *****in stereo system back behind the seat.

but i'm wondering how hard it is to remove the top i've heard that once you take them off its a pita to get em realigned and everything else..

I've never delt with the second gen blazers but the first gens can be a pain in the back - literally. They weigh a ton. You need at least one more person to take it off. You might check into a soft top - especially since your in cali. There are a lot of second gen owners on the message boards on ColorodoK5.com.

Check the frame around the steering box. they are notorious for cracking. There are reinforcement kits available.

Almost forgot, CK5 has detailed descriptions on how to build a pully system in your garage to lift the top off! If my truck fit in my garage, I'd build one!

My wife and I took mine off without a problem. Putting it back on was not that much of a hassle either. I did not know about the two bolts in the back under the interior panel until after I strained to get the top off. Then I read the little sticker that was behind the spare tire

Now I have a soft top, which makes it a lot easier

I have never owned a Blazer, but I think that the first few years of the second gen K5's were full convertible, and they switched to just the rear part of the roof being convertible from like 75-on. I guess they did it because of the front window area leaking. I'd think that the half-roof would be easier to put on and take off.
