Question Header choices for 65 4x4

Looking to replace headers on 65. Have uncoated ugly now. Have coated on my K5 and want to go the same. Vendors don't show listing for 65 4x4. I'm sure these are long tube now,10.25 inch from end of flange to end of collector. I have no x member for engine mounts and have mini starter so ample room. Anyone know of tried and true brand, part #? Any help/input appreciated,Thanks

Re: Header choices for 65 4x4

Was wondering if you found some headers that fit.
I have a 1963 k10 that I just swapped in a 350 with manual trans
Thanks.

I have Thorleys on mine. Even though its a not a SBC, they fit nice and are really well built.

Re: Header choices for 65 4x4

currently on my 64 k10 with the 383 sbc and stock sm420 trans, I've got these sanderson block huggers:

https://www.sandersonheaders.com/san...ab-description

I've had plenty of problems with the collector flanges, and after finding they cracked after roughly 5 years, I cut them off and welded tubes downward to solve that. however there were other cracks formed all over the place...

so I did the same searches on the 60-66 forum which in their faq has plenty of header choice posts...

based on those posts, I settled on Hedman long tube #69090

https://www.hedman.com/product-detail/69090

*** note: I have not installed them yet .. but from previous posts, they'll work without 'too much hassle' ... which was the best endorsement I could find

awesome! I cannot get summit to say they'll fit my 64... despite my entering the engine swap to a gen 1 sbc...

I have not yet installed my new hedmans, been blindsided by suspension woes.

please let us all know how it works out!

I have Doug Thorleys probably 25 years old on my k20 put on with new motor. Thick wall nickle plated.

Never leaked, never rusted, never had to retighten any bolts

Great headers

WOW! that's what I expected out of my samson headers, and to my disappointment, they failed at nearly everything except sealing at the heads, by the time 5 years rolled over...

I guess that's why DT's are (at least from what I've seen thus far) the most expensive headers ever... you get what you pay for... lets see a pic of these 25 year old headers!

^^^^ Same story here. Tightening the header bolts after break in was on my "after break in list" to do. Never got around to it. Didn't need to. No leaks after 3-4 years I think. Mine were given to me by a square body guy who had a custom set made. I had to put a little half moon notch in the upper passenger side frame rail but that's it.

Not nickle plate ( I wish) but ceramic or jet hot. Still silver. No rust.
